Nice door closer
This was my first automatic door closer install. I installed it as a parallel arm install on my 32" garage entry door that slams shut. Pretty straight forward but the one thing that could pose a problem that another reviewer mentioned would be mounting the main body to high on the door and not allowing the arm to clear the threshold. If I remember correctly the instructions say to mount the main body 3 3/4" from the underside of threshold. This wasn't enough clearance and would of caused the arm to hit the upper threshold and the door would be stuck open 12" or so. I ended up mounting it about another inch lower on the door than the 3 3/4" (so about 4 3/4" from the underside of the threshold). I caught it while mocking it up so I would suggest if you have not installed one of these to loosely attach the arm, plate and main body and put it up to your door to get the proper clearance for a parallel arm install. Other than that this closer is a nice piece of hardware. It does exactly what I wanted in not slamming the door shut but latching it properly when it does close. The individual latch/sweep/backcheck adjustments are great. I did have to lower the backcheck quite a bit to not make the door so hard to open. It matched our oil rubbed bronze hardware perfectly.

Make sure you install right side up. Will install either way depending on left or right-hand door.
Replaced old closure with this new one. Lined up with original holes perfectly. Quick and easy install and works very well right out of the box without any additional adjustments.

Excellent Product!
These are phenomenal. Easy to install and extremely well made. Has convenient adjustment for closing speed and latching speed. Installed six of these on metal, fiberglass and wooden doors in just a few hours.

1st unit failed. Second unit has performed wonderfully. From 2 stars to 4!
Not that difficult to install, adjustable closing/opening speed, & does exactly what it's supposed to do. Reasonably priced compared to others that have the back check feature. Unfortunately, about 3 or 4 days of using it (on a fairly low traffic indoor door), it drenched my floor with the oil/fluid & stopped working. We had installed it indoors, so the mess was awful on my floors (got tracked from bathroom to dining room) & my son didn't tell me (he doesn't have the vocabulary), so I unknowingly walked in the slimy clear fluid & took a fall. So, I picked my humiliated self up off the floor, changed outfits, laundered the clothes I'd been wearing, took a shower (some of the greasy drippings from the unit above my head dripped in my hair, & cleaned the floor - complaining the whole time about my new aches and pains & the indignity of it all. This was a bathroom - by the way. I found out bathroom falls hurt worse, because the injury to the pride is magnified by the environment & then there's the whole "Oh no, I was laying in bathroom germs thing." Normally, this type of failure in a unit would automatically cause me to give one star, but... my husband (after uninstalling it), found a flaw in the metal that he thinks caused something to 'blow' in it. He doesn't feel that all of them will do this. He said he thought it was a flaw in this particular unit, not necessarily all of them. We're considering trying another one, because we really liked it while it worked. After all, we already have the drill holes from the one we uninstalled. The mess was not fun to clean up, though, so we're hoping others will review this product to help us make a better decision. Update: No new reviews on this item, so we finally took the chance of ordering a second unit - crossing our fingers that we weren't going to have the same issues - I don't think my pride could have withstood another 'incident'. We had considered getting a different brand, but were afraid we might have to drill new holes. It only makes sense to use the holes we already had if at all possible. Anyway, we've been using the new unit on a frequently used bathroom door (I know it seems like overkill, but my disabled son is a door slammer & we had to think outside of the box for a solution for his safety & my sanity) for just over a year now. We are very pleased with our new door closer. We have it adjusted where my son can't open or close it too fast. He's rough on doors, but our Dynasty unit is still doing it's job. I've changed my stars from 2 to 4. Our new door closer probably deserves a 5, but one star is lost for the major inconvenience resultin from the first unit.

Fairly easy for two 60+ women to install!
There are installation videos on you tube. Somehow I lost the template...or it was never in the box so that made the install more challenging. Its works well except not enough velocity to shut our side exterior door to our garage completely or 100% of the time. I think it might be our door handle latch impacting (I still need to make some adjustments) Regardless, it still keeps our side door from flying open when windy or being left open enough for the dog to get out or critters to come in

Great closer, instructions suuuuck
If you are not a super handy person (I fall squarely in the 'sort of handy, but maybe watch a YouTube video or two first' category) the instructions included with this product are extremely difficult to follow. They could be made so much better just with some rewording and reordering. All of the information is there, but it's stunningly crappily written, and sort of spread all over the manual, with critical pieces of information on various pages in various corners without any emphasis on them whatsoever. When combined with the fact that there are three different ways to install this (only one of which you'll need to follow, so you're trying to figure out which portions of the manual to disregard) it makes for a very frustrating installation experience. 5-star product. Now that I've installed one, I could install them all day long, but that one installation could have gone SO MUCH MORE EASILY if these folks had just a *slightly* better manual writer on staff.

Good value here. Seems well built. I had no issues with installation as product includes easy to use templates for various mounting options.

Replaced 20 year old door closer. Was able to screw into existing holes installed in less then 30 minutes.

Very brief and contradictory installation instructions. Says preset to size 2 on one side of the instructions and size 3 on the other (it makes a big difference!). The dimensions on the installation drawing are different than the template and there is no suggested size for the pilot holes for the unusual screws. There was no customer service contact info. to resolve these issues either (however, I now see that the Amazon vendor profile lists a number. I haven't tried phoning them because I only found it later - why not include it with the product). If you're a handyman be prepared to scratch your head! However, once installed the product works well and is easy to adjust.

Template with 3" drop is wrong. Need another 0.5" to clear the elbow. It scratches my door frame badly, despite removing a washer and filing down the tip of the screw. Should have listened to the other reviewers before jumping into the installation! Nice product, bad instructions.
