These pans are made from very durable, solid plastic. I'm quite happy with the quality and I can't imagine one cracking without running it over with a car. They come with a tiny booklet that tells you the very basics of where to look for gold. I was disappointed with the booklet--I would have liked it to be longer and provide more insight into gold panning. There are a couple of vials that are made of cheap plastic, but they work. There's also a plastic bottle, which you use to suck up gold, and which prevents that gold from spilling/squirting back out of the bottle. It seems to work pretty well. Finally, there is a pair of tweezers with a tiny, cheap magnifying glass. I doubt the magnifying glass could really prove useful since it's so small and weak. Although I'm not particularly impressed with the accessories, I'm glad they were included, and the pans themselves are well worth the price. I've only used them a couple of times, and I did not find any gold. However, I did find lots of black sand (heavy dark minerals present near the bottom of streams, which can contain gold), which proves that the pans were very effective. I have no doubt that I would have found gold if it was present in the sand that I tested. For well under $50, this is a fun and worthwhile kit.

These pans are the best in the world. They are great cleanup pans, but if need be you can use them to work a relatively large amount of material, even the little pan. Using the 10" like a batea pan I've found some good color in no time. the 14" is a good all purpose pan, you can use them both to safety pan or the 10" fits pretty well into a five gallon bucket if need be. The classifier works as well as you'd expect it to, nice and durable, I doubt I'll need a new one for some time. The sniffer is great, the bottles are nice to have, the book is helpful if you don't know what you're doing but not necessary, the tweezers are pretty useless. Honestly if you're buying these I'd recommend getting the super sluice and using either the 14" or the 10" as a cleanup pan, I'd say one is as effective as the other for cleaning up. That said I don't regret buying the whole kit together, if you bought all these items separately and left off one of the pans you'd be spending about the same amount of money, essentially you're getting one pan free. Also if you don't want to get the super sluice then you already have you're main pan and your cleanup pan in one package.

I've gone gold panning 2-3 times with this set... so far me and my buddy have found some placer gold AND a small small nugget! in VT! the tweezers don't work very well... and the little plastic tube things that come with the kit are poorly made... they hold the gold fine, but they are not airtight... so it makes me a little uneasy. and the sucker bottle works like it should, however you have to be gentle with the cap (if you tighten it to much, it'll jump the treading and you'll need to tighten it again)... Honestly I bought the kit for the pan's, nothing more... shipping was fast, the instruction book I'm sure tells you the basics for panning (Friends dad showed us the technics so I never really looked in the book). I would definitely recommend this kit to someone who wants to try panning... it's a good starter kit. Now I gotta find a nugget the size of my fist!!

Even though this kit is obviously for a beginner, everything included is professional quality, and you are sure to find gold with this set if you look in the right places. However, might I suggest upgrading from the Gold Trap pan to a Super Sluice. If this kit came with the Super Sluice instead of the Gold Trap, it would be absolutely perfect. By the way, before you start using this set, make sure you cut off the end of the Gold Guzzler tube at an angle (like 45 degrees or so). The tube that sucks up the gold comes with the end 90 degrees but this makes it difficult to suck up gold without it falling back into the pan. Some other things you should consider getting to help you find gold: A bucket A trowel or prospecting scoop A small pick mattock A magnetic black sand separator Jet Dry (google it) One last thing: the booklet that comes with this kit, “How To Find Gold” is basically just a long-winded advertisement for Garrett metal detectors. It won’t help you find gold with this kit. Still, and easy 5/5!

These Gold Panning Items are not toys! I have made a lot of money over the 50+ Years I have panned for Gold. Even though I am now retired I still go out once in a while and collect those few small specks of Gold that the Old Timers missed. <G>>>> That is a joke right there. I won't tell you where I go to look for gold. Some times I simply go across the road to a creek that has a lot of gold in it. Other times I go back in the Hills to a few spots I know of. I probably pan at least an ounce of gold ever week or two. Sometimes I prospect for two months with out even a few pickers. Other times I will setup my dredge or high banker or sluice box and hit a good spot and take home a 5gallon bucket that once held Soap or kitty litter. Then by the time I have panned it out. I will be staring at 4 or 5 ounces of gold nuggets worth Ten Grand or more. You Wonder why I have a thousand pound Safe in my bedroom closet. It is set in concrete with 2 foot long 2inch chrome Molly bolts. Pour three yards of cement to keep it in there. Gold is better than printing money with my laptop and an inkjet. 73 dray

I’m no expert with gold pans, but this set has helped this beginner find a few flakes of gold! The kids loved it, I love it, hubby loved it, and now we have a new hobby to enjoy together.
