I like this coffee maker so much I bought one as a B-Day gift for my Momma. She loves it too.
Because there's no always-on heating plate, the coffee never gets cooked. Because of the "shower-head" design, the flavor is always even and consistent. Because of the carafe design, the coffee stays at least steaming warm for well over three hours. The brew-strength, programmable auto-brew and clock all function extremely well. The only "con" I have is that it's a little hard to fill the reservoir with the carafe as it pours so slowly. Also, because of the carafe pouring design, NO MESS!!! Uses paper basket filters perfectly. Best coffee maker in all my 40 years, hands down. Also, also, the stainless steel of the carafe makes it beyond easy to clean and keeps the coffee's flavor clean and so, so good. Also, also, also, the unit turns off automatically when done brewing, this saves electricity. Alright, I'm done.

Poorly designed, dangerous too pour, control panel looks nice but it’s totally useless. Stupid
This item looks good, and there’s a plastic panel that covers the buttons that is intended to probably not only look sleek , but also be easy to clean. At their actual design of this machine is a mess, the lid and the brewing mechanisms inside are so flimsy that I think it would probably not even make it through the year If coffee gets spilled in the area surrounding the basket there’s no real way to clean it One of the worst problems is actually setting the machine, because the buttons are hidden behind the plastic panel, and they’re very hard to activate. As a matter of fact it only one of 10 times that I try could I actually turn the machine on, because somewhere behind that plastic was a button but it didn’t activate Also absolutely an excusable for company that actually makes coffee makers professionally… Is the ridiculous heavy carafe. Granted… It does make a lot of coffee, but there is a lever that you need to activate with your thumb in order to pour the coffee. The same lever slides Underneath the basket to keep the coffee carafe open while it is brewing. The challenges, even for a man with average to large size hands like myself , it is nearly impossible to activate the lover with your thumb while lifting this large carafe, which is quite heavy, and has a ridiculous square handle, without spilling coffee Also, the fat shape of the craft means that you actually have to turn the carafe completely upside down to empty it, while navigating this lever with your thumb and hoping you don’t drop the thing Whatever engineer designed this should probably find a new job, because in fact… Crops is a company that is largely known for making coffee makers, and if they couldn’t test this properly or couldn’t design it to be anything but form over function… They should probably change businesses. I sent it back to Amazon Not to mention, it was over $150 with tax, that does not include delivery because we have prime

The carafe gets too warm.
This replaced my 40 year old Krups carafe brewer and I liked the old design much better. This model has too large of a carafe for my purposes and the carafe is not a good thermos bottle. The bottom of the carafe is very warm after brewing and it loses heat too quickly. The filter basket is also too small for use at full water capacity unless you like your coffee weak. I wonder if the Krups name was sold to China

Interesting
I’ve had various coffee makers of this type, but this is the first one that has no provision for a charcoal water filter, so it’s likely you’ll need to use filtered water rather than from the tap if your city water has chlorine. At least I’ll be able to use filtered water from my fridge. I like the design of this coffee maker. The mouth is large enough to put my hand in and scrub out periodically. This model has two design flaws. First, when opening the lid, condensation spills onto the counter, second the carafe lid design makes pouring out a slow process, particularly as the pot empties. Using a measuring cup, the pot holds 7 - 8oz measuring cups = 56 Oz.. As to keeping the coffe freshly brewed hot, only glass carafe models do this by having a hot plate, which unfortunately stews the coffee over several hours. I prefer just reheating in my microwave. I’ve found that my carafe holds the coffee almost freshly brewed hot for about 4 hours. The provided mesh filter works well. It is basket shaped with a flat bottom. I haven’t looked to see if paper filters are available in the shape.

Mixed opinion
Brews my coffee better than my previous Cuisinart automatic drip. I do mis the charcoal filter in the Cuisinart, but perhaps that was the problem? A bigger problem is I drink multiple cups over several hours. The insulated pot is exactly what I needed. The Cuisinart heating element was brutal with my coffee flavor. My brew stays warm and consistent throughout the morning. The brew basket is a minor issue. The flow valve assembly has fallen in my kitchen can while emptying the used grounds a couple of times. It is held together by a silicon cap the doesn't take much to pop off, leaving you digging through your garbage. If you use the included basket, instead of paper filters, this isn't a problem. I find it difficult to brew a full pot. The basket overflows set on string if I add enough grinds for a full pot. I fill the basket filter no more than 5/8 the full. While I ordered a new coffee maker, my manual was missing and the unit was clearly an opened box unit. The lights on the clock are now malfunctioning. I don't know if I'll be able to set the time once the unit losses power. It still brews at 5:45AM. But the clock is unreadable.

Carafe drips
Easy to use; simple soft-touch buttons; Insulated carafe keeps coffee hot for hours. It just drips when you pour and the durability of the button to dispense is questionable.

The worst coffee maker I have every purchased.
I have purchased and used dozens of different coffee makers over the years, and can say this one is the worst one I have ever had the misfortune of buying. Both design and performance are surprisingly bad. It stands 24 inches tall when the lid for the water and filter are raised, so it cannot sit under most cabinets. The gauge for the water is on the side and poorly lettered, so you must pull it to the side to see how much water you have poured in. And yes, it makes 12 cups, but if you put in that much water the filter will overfill, and you will have coffee grounds in your cup. Brewing just 8 is a risk. The control buttons are both imbedded and require serious jabbing to get them to work, so setting just the time after a power outage is an exercise in frustration. You can supposedly change strength to three levels, but I've tried all three and they are all the same. And the LED display lights have begun to fail (already, not a year old), and so the digits look like Klingon. Oh, and when pouring, if you tip the thermal carafe just a little too steeply so the trickle becomes a flow, then coffee dribbles out the intake hole on the top, down the side of the carafe, and onto the counter. And the filter shape is basket instead of conical, even though most Krups are conical and cones make better coffee.

Very nice coffee maker, easy to clean
UPDATE to review- there was unfortunately a defect with this coffee maker. It was going to be more complicated going thru krups to send it to them, have them evaluate it before deciding if they'd repair it before sending it back to us. With Amazon it was very easy, uncomplicated good customer service where they will send a replacement and I return this defective one. Amazon continues to make us feel confident in buying thru them. Now I really hope this second krups coffee maker work well. We had high hopes with the krups name, especially with this high price. And at this point I do think we I wr paid. Probably should have chose a different coffee maker *** I really like this coffee maker. Appearance is very nice, easy to clean. And with other coffee makers where the burner usually is with other, that area chips away eventually due to the daily heating. With this being the karaf that continues the heating, takes that problem away. We haven't had this long, and so far love it. Things I've noticed -This is actually a 12 cup, not a 14 cup but I'm ok with that. Only other issue we're trying to figure out, first time using it, it shut off multiple times and we'd have to restart it. That has happened only once more since then as we're using it daily for a month now. We read thru instructions but cannot find what would cause that. If you know please comment

Did I get a dud?
It looks like a nice unit but the coffee got colder every time we used it. It was only hot for the first or second time used.
