In this thrilling DC Universe Movie, Earth’s latest Green Lantern will rise! When a Power Ring is bestowed upon former Marine John Stewart, it leads him on a life-changing mission. With Justice League member Green Arrow and Thanagarian Hawkgirl by his side, Stewart is thrown into a complicated galactic war with shocking origins and catastrophic consequences. It’s a trial by fire for the inexperienced Lantern as he battles deadly enemies like Sinestro – but a much darker secret will be the true test of this Green Lantern’s strength! Review: Great - Brilliant movie. Highly recommend this film. Need more dc animated films on the market and more GL Review: Our worlds at war - A new Dc comics animated movie. This one features Green Lantern. There's been, and are, quite a few people to hold that name in the pages of comics. This one is all about John Stewart. Black former US marine. It's an all new story, and not an adaptation of anything. It runs for eighty four mins. It is a fifteen certificate, thanks to the level of violence, so this isn't a cartoon for the kids. Being an all new story, it is also not tied into any previous animated continuity. So no need to watch anything else to get into this. John Stewart is finding life after his tour of duty to be not the easiest. When a spaceship crashes near him. Onboard is a dying alien who gives him an amazing ring. His desire to get rid of it takes him to the Justice League. But their quest to find out where the ring came from takes him and Green Arrow on an interstellar odyssey. And a quest to find an old friend. The animation in here is decent. Some of these from the last couple of years did have rather static backgrounds at times, but they're fine here. And the figure work is pretty good. The story moves along nicely. There's some comic book cameos that I, as someone with an A level in dc comics continuity, was rather pleased to see. But somehow, this never quite sparks into full life. Some fans might not be happy with a few things that it does. But then again, that's some fans for you. They're never happy about anything. I can judge these things objectively, as they do stand on their own. It just feels too much like one of those franchise origin movies. Where it has to get all the exposition and a villain for the new hero to fight in, all at the same time. And you're left with something that, now it's got that out of the way, has potential to really take flight in future films. That's rather the case here. The fact that John isn't on this journey alone, and he's rather taciturn throughout, means it doesn't feel as if the focus is entirely on him. When it should be. He does get used to a few things rather quickly also. And without any montages either. Perfectly watchable and well worth four stars, but just not quite the most memorable of these. The dvd has no extras. Language and subtitle options: Languages: English, French. Subtitles: English, Dutch, French.

Good film
A nice well paced, well told story. This is the John Stewart incarnation of the Green Lantern. In the film, ex-marine corp soldier John Stewart is chosen to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps following the apparent death of Hal Jordan, leading Stewart to be caught in the middle of a Rannian-Thanagarian war, and aided by Justice League member Green Arrow and Thanagarian warrior Shayera Hol.
