No it is not. You have to be real careful with it or it can ruin your tape.

i have a 8mm and bought one of these and it was to big what is the difence between the smaller tapes

This adapter is for VHS-C tapes, which are the physically smaller version of the regular VHS tapes. This adapter allows VHS-C tapes to be played in the VHS players. The 8mm tapes are totally different in size and format, so this adapter will not work for them.
