Horande Replacement Key Fob Cover Case fit for Chevy Malibu Cruze Camaro

The hardest part of the swap for me was disassembling the factory key fob. Ended up scratching a trace for the transponder. Repaired with a small wire from an ethernet cable. The factory circuit board has through hole on the traces and I did not have to solder it. As others have said the key in this unit has a slightly different roll pin hole location. I have roll pin punches and holders and just beat the roll pin through the hole and it works fine.

Long story short you have to open up your key and that's the battle at least it was for me once your key is open you're swapping out the key circuit board and battery to the new key remote. Assuring that the battery and everything is connected but it works and it saves you money the dealership wanted over $100 for this so if you have problems their directions on YouTube very helpful overall the key works and looks just like the picture save me a lot of money for my 2012 Chevy Camaro make sure you match the key remote to get the correct one so happy that this worked.

Update: this replacement also does not stay together well and after using it once or twice in your ignition you have to push it back together or it will fall apart. What a piece of junk. This item does not come with any instructions or any info at all. It super difficult to take an OEM key fob apart. Then the original key does not fit exactly right in this unit. So the key button does not work. It was a waste to purchase this item.

A good replacement for the OEM fob, build quality about the same or better than OEM. The only issues I had were taking apart the OEM fob to get the key and circuit board out. There was no way to take it apart without breaking it, so be sure you're ready to swap over as there's no going back. At least that was the case with mine, apparently the OEM fobs for my Malibu were glued and there was no way to get them apart without breaking them and needed the use of a lot of force just to get at the circuit board. Installing into the new fob was easy at that point. The only other issue was the key, it can be taken out of the holder quite easily by tapping the pin out that holds it, but the holder in the new fob is just a bit different so that the old key didn't quite fit into the holder enough for the holes to line up so that the pin could be inserted. I should have taken the effort to just grind down the difference in length and then it would have fit easily. As it is it took a bit of force to get the pin back in. But once that was done, the fob works fine and the buttons even seem to be a bit more sturdy than the OEM ones which always felt a little mushy, the replacement fob's buttons are nice and solid.

Recently the buttons on the shells of both original key fobs (Fob#1 and Fob#2) for my 2010 Equinox began to fail. I purchased one of these shells (Shell#1) and rebuilt Fob#1 by installing Fob#1’s chip and key in Shell#1. I am completely satisfied with the rebuilt Fob#1. I then purchased another one of these shells (Shell#2) and rebuilt Fob#2 by installing Fob#2’s chip and key in Shell#2. I am completely satisfied with the rebuilt Fob#2. I am rating this product 4 stars because in both rebuilds, the original key assembly (circular key gear with attached key) did not work correctly in the new shell. Specifically, the keys would not latch in the closed position. I fixed this problem in both fob rebuilds as follows: 1) use a 1/16” roll pin punch to remove the roll pin from the original key assembly; 2) use the same punch to remove the roll pin from the new key assembly and save this new roll pin; 3) insert the original key into the new circular key gear, and attach using the new roll pin saved from the previous step; 4) discard the original circular key gear and the new blank key. As noted by others, I discovered that the springs in my original key fobs are of better quality than those included with this product. So I rebuilt both fobs using the original springs.

I bought this key fob for my 2014 chevy cruze since the oem one was missing every button but the alarm. Swapping over the internals of the keys is a bit tough. The most difficult part is definitely disassembling the OEM fob. You cant really get it apart without destroying it. Swapping the chip and battery over was easy. You need a small punch or pin to drive out the roll pin the retains the actual ignition key. It can be hard to find something small enough to push the pin out but strong enough to put a fair amount of pressure on. I used a tiny allen wrench and it was really easy. At the end of the swap you have to install a spring for the key to flip out but you have to spin the top half of the key fob to give the spring some tension. It take a few tries to spin the fob half, retain the spring and button, and click the two halves together but I got it. The key works amazing and its held up for a few months now and I feel like it will last quite a while. Great value for the cost.

The main problem with this unit is that the slots to lock open/close the key are not an exact match to the OEM fob. The original key will not engage the locking mechanism in the closed position in my case. I tried removing the pin to swap out keys as noted on another 5 star post. The problem there is that the key slots as noted in the pictures are not slotted exactly the same. You cannot replace the pin with the new key holder and the old key. I ended up using a #18 x 5/8IN nail. You can hammer it in and cut both ends. The pin is hollow and will bend so that option failed. You might have better luck than me but the design is what it is.

I had to file the key blade to make it fit, as some other reviews also mention. It wasn’t difficult but don’t expect a “plug & play” solution without needing some fitment work.

This was so easy to put together. Replacement Fobs, Fit parts perfectly from my malibu fobs. Works great.love them.

Says it’s compatible with 2014 Cruze but it’s a different cut mechanism for the key and so you can’t use the key button with your old key. If this is intended than they should really stress that you have to get a new key cut (which would be dumb but whatever).

Fit very well the original PCB . Save me a lot of expense of buying a new keyfob. Button are a bit more stiff than the original shell.
