It works great
This hard drive enclosure save me a world of pain. I was unable to start my MacBook Pro. Bought this drive took the H/D out of my MBP moved some of the data off. Saved me from what I thought was a disaster. East to use👌🏾

DO NOT BUY
inadequate power supply or bad. It disconnects REPEATEDLY under Windows and LINUX when copying data from HP 3tb SAS drive AFTER I COPIED MY LAST COPY OF MY DATA INTO IT!!! MY DATA IS NOW TRAPPED IN THE HD! DISABLED USB POWER OFF BUT THAT DID NOT HELP!

A little more $$ than I expected, but it works great!
When I was looking for USB adapters for an old Mac SSD, I was thinking that I was going to pay $20 give or take. But since the 12+16 pin SSD used for a few MacBooks are sort of the oddball, I guess it's not too surprising that the price for this particular adapter (and other manufactures' 12+16 adapters) is more than 2x the price. The good news, it worked flawlessly even though I had to install a kernel module on my Ubuntu 24.04 system to read APFS.

Understated Simplicity, Top Notch Quality
This product was excellent. I am an IT guy and work with a lot of different materials, computers, drives, drive form factors, etc. I was a little weary about stepping out into the world of ordering drive cradles for Apple Products, because apple drives are so strangely specific, even varying from model to model in older years. This product truly took the guess work out of it for me. Inside the nice packaging, there were some spare screws if you needed them, a USB-C cable, and of course the enclosure. I can't speak highly enough of the enclosure itself. It's sturdy, appears to be cut precisely, and machined perfectly to store the PCB inside. The included screws worried me at first about holding a drive in place, but they did remarkably well, fitting perfectly within the enclosure. You can tell this product isn't cheaply made, and if you're debating another product over this one...definitely choose this one. As someone who's been in the industry for 15 years...it's easy for me to recognize this as a quality product. The only downfall or shortcoming I could see to this product, was that inside the box there was not a USB-A connector. While USB-C is nice, and generally faster, USB-A is what's needed for most of these older macbooks, so I'd consider reworking that if possible, or just simply adding a USB-A connector into the box alongside USB-C.

Works, but housing has constuction errors
The enclosure works as stated in the product description. My PCI SSD from the iMac 2013 was recognized immediately. The biggest flaw is the faulty construction of the enclosure. I had to cut off a corner of the SSD so that I could close the lid with the supplied screw (see picture). In general, there is no recess for the SSD to fit into the end of the case. The SSD rests on the edge that is intended for the lid. This leaves a gap, as can be seen in the pictures. Despite this flaw, I'm keeping the enclosure because I looked for it for a long time and couldn't find anything in Germany. I finally found it on Amazon USA and ordered it. 2013 MacBook Pro SSD doesn't quite fit...
Similar experience to other purchasers and reviewers. I harvested a 1TB SSD from an old MacBook Pro (mid/late 2013). While the pins lined up and the drive inserted well, the enclosure has a clear manufacturing/design error in that the PCB for the drive extends over the metal and screw hole used to attach the bottom of the enclosure. Since that small corner of the PCB didn't carry any circuitry that I could see, I cut down the corner to make it fit. Bottom line, a product like this should require you to break out a Dremel to work as advertised. #fail. Functionality is fine, though - Other Macs recognized the drive and Disk Utility was able to erase, partition, etc. Otherwise, this would have been a return with zero stars.

Great vor testing SAS drives before commiting them to a NAS
This device makes it easy to check out SAS drives before you commit them tgo a NAS. I've had it for several months now, tested six drives with it, and it has yet to fail me.

Very good but quality wire needed !!
Product working very good. The wire that comes with it is total garbage. You need to use your own quality data wire. The ssd lag if you use the supplied wire. Using this enclosure (without the cover on it for heat) for a Aura X2 Pro ssd.

You're paying for the SAS functionality. That is all.
5Gbps (that's USB 3.0) so read/writes are very slow if you're looking to transfer an entire drive, but there aren't any easy options out there for SAS drives. The dock makes it so convenient on computers that don't have hot-swapabble drive bays.
