Buck knives are the best, have been using them for all of my adult life.
In my 20 years of military service and another 15 years as a government contractor, I always had,” as well as many of my friends and coworkers” always had a Buck knife in my pocket. 35 years of using them, never had one break, and put them through some very demanding conditions. I have been a huge fan of Buck knives and very highly recommended them to anyone who needs a sharp and reliable knife.

My favorite pocket knife ever
This is the first pocket knife I ever bought! I'm 49 years old, I have had many pocket knives, and currently have a large pile of them on a shelf. Every other one I've ever had as a daily carry was from Christmas gifts or promotional schwag. I have had some very nice ones and some real crap ones and generally abuse them all. Most cant take it. I never really thought about buying one, I have a bunch after all, but one day I was cleaning my car and when vacuuming between the passenger seat and door, I found one of these. Not sure who it belonged to, I stuck it in my pocket and later examined it a little closer. This thing had had a hard life, the edge was beat to death and the pocket clip had been nearly ripped off and was badly bent out. I was bored I guess so I took it to the work bench and straightened the clip, which surprised me that the metal temper was such that it returned to its proper functional state after all the working required. I took it to a 1000 grit wet stone and brought back the edge easily, and It went back in my pocket until I could find its owner. Of course with it being in my pocket, I used it for my everyday needs, and was quite impressed with how well it held its sharp edge, and how well it fit my hand, and what a slim unobtrusive profile it has when clipped into my pocket, while I asked everyone I could think of who had rode in my car if they were missing it. This went on for a few weeks, maybe a month or two, until I was visiting my brother and remembered a road trip we had taken together in that car, and asked him about the knife. His face lit up when I pulled it out of my pocket, it had been his favorite just as it had become mine. In fact he liked it so much that when he lost it he had bought two more just like it! I returned it to him, of course, but I admit I was a little sad to not have it. I guess I had assumed that it was an expensive knife, but when I got home I searched for it on amazon and happily couldn't believe how low priced it was! I immediately hit the buy now and it has been with me (literally) every day since it arrived. This is truly a perfect pocket knife, not too small, not too big, holds its edge well (until you abuse it), takes abuse, then sharpens back easily. Actually, I think I'm going to buy another right now, just incase they ever stop making this model and something happens to mine.

Best overall folding lockback pocket knife!
When you pick this up and open it and see the blade and every part of the components, it screams quality. Well done BUCK KNIVES! First blade is honed and extremely sharp and well shaped out of box. Secondly, from clip, screws to the metal handle parts, the machining is well done. Many knives you can see "cheap parts. The quality of metal is deficient in the appearance (inconsistent), texture (grainy or poorly machined), or even construction (put together sloppily or just bad design). From the lock-back edges, smooth pivot and beveled edges of the metal handle pieces and rounded, smooth but thick clip--this is a knife where the attention to detail is apparent. And the size is great. Its not a 'baby knife.'

Awesome USA made Design By Buck knives!
Awesome USA made knife model! normally buck knives come with pretty good factory edges but this one was not very well done. Now I don't care about Factory Edge sharpness because I am a professional freehand sharpener so the knife will get my Edge before it gets used anyways so that's not a big deal I'm just stating that issue for others that may not want to have to sharpen the knife out the box. Fit and finish is typical buck which is very good it's a nice looking knife that's comfortable in hand & comfortable in pocket, locks up super solid with no blade play. The knife is nice and lightweight because of the aluminum handle plates, the blade shape with that light recurve actually makes for a very useful EDC knife type blade shape you have a nice belly that makes slicing cuts and draw Cuts very easy and the recurve really does a good job with pushing type Cuts because it draws the material into the center of the recurve naturally so it will not slip out of the cut. The pocket clip holds the knife in the pocket very tight it also slides in the pocket one handed without issue because it has a good ramp on it so it grabs the pocket slides over it and does a good job as a pocket clip and because it's aluminum handles it's not going to destroy your jeans like say G10 would that's rough. The blade steel is 420 HC of course and it's well known that buck uses the Paul Bos heat treatment protocol and gets a little bit more Edge retention out of 420hc then most other production companies are capable of however this is the main downside of these knives and any buck with 420hc even though they get a little more performance out of it than most other companies do it's still a poor performing Steel in edge retention. While it's extremely tough and pretty stainless the edge retention just isn't very good as a folding pocket knife steel where edge retention is key, i would really love to see Buck go back to 440c on their folding knives as the edge retention difference is night and day 440c holds this Edge far far longer than this 420hc does it also sharpens nicer and strops back nicer and just makes for a far better performing folding knife steel where the extreme toughness of 420hc just isn't needed. The mid back lock on this knife has a pretty stout spring which is a good thing because you have nice solid lock up with absolutely no blade movement up or down and if there is a little bit side to side you can simply tighten the pivot Bolt and now you have zero blade plate whatsoever. With the thumb hole you can easily open the blade one-handed it works great it's my favorite method of blade opening a thumb hole like Spyderco or like this knife has even though it's a different shape that type of opening method is my favorite by far I like it much better than thumb studs because it doesn't get in the way of the cut like thumb studs will or thumb disk or any other method that has something sticking out wider than the width of the blade stock thickness. The one other thing about this knife that I wish was different is due to the Grind even though the stock thickness is not very thick you still have a fairly Stout grind meaning the behind the edge thickness is already pretty thick straight out the package and going to get thicker with each sharpening. It's nothing terrible of course it's still a pretty nice knife that slices pretty decently but I would prefer it to be thinner behind the edge so it would slice a lot better. Overall it's a really cool knife with the cool design made in the USA with quality components for a reasonable price and overall makes a pretty good pocket knife for $55 you really can't beat it so I'm giving it four and a half out of 5 stars. If the factory Edge would have been nice and sticky sharp out of the package it would have got five out of five stars like I said for me that doesn't matter because it's going to get my Edge on it before it ever gets used anyways but that's probably not the case for most people that buy the knife most people that buy a new knife expected to be sharp out of the package because most people aren't sharpeners. Check out reviews on YouTube and search "DiamondCutSteel buck 722 spitfire review and edge retention testing" Also one more thing i want to mention bucks warranty is second to very few companies . If you ever have a problem with this knife break a blade anything sharpened it 50 times and half the blades gone whatever you send it in and they will send you back a knife with a fresh blade on it again totally clean the knife up or just replace the knife with the brand new one for you. Their warranty truly is world class and they take care of their customers that I can say without a shadow of the doubt because I've had interactions with their warranty department six or seven times and they've always taken care of me perfectly. Break a tip on a 110 because it's such a fine and thin tip not a problem send it in they charge me $5 to ship the knife back put me a brand new blade on it had the knife back to me within 10 days that includes the time it took me to mail it in. I had a old Buck 110 that one of the wooden inlays popped out of and had been run over was all beat up they called me up asked me did i want them to polish it out and try to make that one look as good as they could or I just want a replacement I was like a replacement sounds good. They sent me a brand new knife and the original one back that they gave a spa treatment and got it back to 95% perfect. I have a buck 110 TRX in s30v it's their premium model of the 110 that I didn't like that action it kind of was sticky feeling and I never could adjust that out of it sent it in they replaced the knife with the brand new one and a hand wrote note stating that the other one had I manufacturing defect and that's why it felt the way it did and couldn't be adjusted to get the action right. What other company do you know of that's going to admit that their product had a manufacturing issue on that specific one? Yeah that's a pretty stand-up company to do that and because of the problem they sent me a $25 gift card along with it to be used it their website bucks customer service and warranty department are truly second to none. On the issue with the 110 TRX I got a call about a week after I got the knife and it was CJ Buck himself calling to make sure I was happy with the replacement knife and if was performing as I expected it to... Fantastic company buck is.

Very High Quality Build, Sturdy, sharp blade, Satisfying "action", & and Downright pretty !
Just received recently, haven't used much, but initial impression leaves me overwhelmingly happy with this selection. Very substantial blade, sharp, sleek beautiful finish, very satisfying and solid click into position upon opening, very sturdy lockback stability. I selected this for Buck reputation, USA origin, and traditional design, ie, thumbhole open and sturdy lockback structure. I have a few orthopedic issues at 72 and I don't open 100 cartons a day or plan on being in a knife fight, so I don't care about one handed flipper or switch blade action. This is not ultra light weight but it is plenty light for its size and high build quality. Definitely would not give up the lockback structure and mechanism to save a little weight. People with normal dexterity will be able to use the thumbhole one handed. Don't see how one could find better quality and looks for $50.

Buck yeah
My 3rd spitfire, thin profile easy on the pocket, solid lock up but does need fine tuning to get the perfect balance of retention and easy opening. Inside edge of scales are a little sharp but easily smoothed out .bucks steel is awesome, i can tell very little difference between my spyderco s30v and bucks 420hc on edge retention , granted i haven't done a side by side comparison but for my use 420hc is plenty able to handle my needs .Great knife , just wish g10 was an option other than getting a custom from bucks knife shop. I do not like the red back spacer so i swapped it with one i sanded , much better looking. 2nd best Buck knife I own , Buck 110 trx is my top favorite but the 722 is a very close second. Update 2025 : bought a 722 custom in s35vn, o.d. scales and backspacer off bucks custom knife shop , and purchased another one in 420hc , these are sweet knives , the action had to be adjusted on each one but its simple and produces rock solid lock up . The cerakote feels warmer than the anodized aluminum , all finishes hold up great , the 722 has over taken my trx bucks as my favorite, definitely recommend them.

Great knife
I was shopping for a new pocket knife and spent weeks researching blade material, cost, country of manufacture, etc. What sold me on this knife was the fact that Buck is a Christian-based company, this knife is USA made, the price point, and other reviews I read/videos watched. To get a USA made knife for around $50 was a no-brainer. I opted for the orange and was not disappointed. The only issue I would say is inserting your thumb into the whole and opening takes some effort and practice. But, I'm sure the more I practice the easier it will become. Razor sharp out of the box and I mean sharp. Great buy!
