My honest review of the Chris Appleton + Color Wow Money Masque. Bought this for my daughter initially as she does a lot of ballroom dancing and the hairspray and gel was leaving her hair badly damaged. It has brought her hair back to life. I decided to pinch a bit for my new hair extensions and it didn’t disappoint. Keeps them bouncy and shiny and I can get away with washing my hair every fourth morning. Leaves a beautiful shine and helps keep the extensions from knotting up. It is pricy but a little goes a long way. My natural hair is quite fine and it leaves no greasy residue. On my second purchase and now purchase as a subscription from Amazon as it’s a great price.

So I’ve only used this once but it has made an incredible difference that lasts all week. In short, I have the world’s tangliest hair. Despite it being dead straight and very fine it matts non stop and brushing it through post washing it is torture - my hair dresser said she has never seen anything like it before, especially as my hair isn’t bleached/dyed (imagine taking a cheap Barbie doll’s hair, wetting it, then back combing it, then trying to brush it through.) Anyway, my mum’s hairdresser recommended this product for me and it’s incredible. I could brush my hair through after washing it without pulling half my hair out and me nearly crying from pain. For some this might be a nice treat, but for me this literally will allow me to wash my hair and comb it through pain free. It even helped when I washed it again a few days later and didn’t use this masque, but it was so much easier to comb through. Not only that but my hair was so soft all week. Highly, highly recommend this product - it’s expensive but worth every penny.

Hair products are super subjective, but there are two things that matter most to me: performance (how smooth, soft, and shiny my hair feels afterwards), and scent (I love products that makes my hair smell amazing). The results: this mask performs decently - it leaves my hair smoother than a basic conditioner, but nothing special. For £40, I expected a real wow result, but it just doesn't deliver that premium feel. Scent: zero fragrance. Fine for some, but I love scented hair, so I always need to add another product afterwards to get any nice smell. A friend of mine loves it and recommended it to me (and clearly it works brilliantly for her), but at this price point, I don't think the performance justifies the cost. For comparison, I recently also tried another hair mask from a different brand that's £15 cheaper, and it outperformed this one in both smoothness/shine and had a lovely scent. Overall decent but overpriced - won't be buying this again.

My hair is softer and shiny like never before

Works well on my thick coarse hair. Only use it as per the instructions. You need to use a hair dryer and a brush to create tension to activate the product. My hair texture is vastly improved when I use this hair mask. I don’t feel like it hydrates more than other masks I have but it gives a lovely shine.

Ok .... Lots to say on this. First of all Amazon delivered this so quickly to me, along with the Money mist, so yay for Amazon. I was also impressed with the Subscribe and save price on this compared to retail, so decided to go for it before even trying it out due to the hype around this product. It's a good sized generous tub which will last well because you honestly don't need too much (Watch YouTube vids if unsure. Chris Appleton himself shows you how to use). It smells fresh and is an odd gel like texture which I worked through my hair with ease and left on for 5 mins (3-5 is recommended). On rinsing out I could immediately feel my hair was silky. I followed up with the Money mist and after gently drying my hair with low heat, my hair felt soft and manageable and bouncy. I am in my early 50's and letting my greys come through so the texture of my hair has changed somewhat and this product has definitely got it feeling better. I would not normally review a product so quickly but I had the chance to use it in my hair routine today and its a 5* must have for me now. Yes, it's not the cheapest product out there in hair mask world, but this one is a winner, and vegan too.

Do you have dry, brittle hair that Covid made fall out in clumps? I did, and adding this mask to my hair recovery strategy made a huge difference. I stack it with monthly K18, weekly olaplex, weekly hair oils, weekly scalp scrub, daily minoxidil and daily peptides on the scalp. Perfect conditioning mask that seems to actually penetrate vs that waxy coat I get with other products.

Best hair masque I’ve ever tried. It’s super expensive but it’s because it really works. It improves the look of color treated damaged hair, makes it more silky smooth and easier to brush. It also adds a nice shine.
