Sometimes, even more important than the quality of a product, is the quality of the Customer Service assistance that guides a company. Firstly, this particular Product, as I’m sure all others must be which they manufacture and market, is Top Notch, tons of fun, and everything the company advertises it to be! The proof is in the pudding when it comes to customers with issues that go beyond the point of sale, however, and I can attest that this company adheres to their policy of making sure their customers are totally satisfied to the fullest extent. I want to single out and applaud Daniel for a moment: This gentleman was sincere, honest, forthcoming, and reassuring in his follow up messages. There were a couple of pieces missing, and Daniel assured me that as soon as I provided my address he would replace those parts. Well, he went above and beyond that by ensuring that should I misplace or even break a piece down the road I'd have no worries, as he provided full replacement pieces to correct the packaging's earlier deficiency. They were delivered a mere three days after he took down my address. As an added bonus, the set comes with an easy to understand Rules of Chess card, which will make it simple to explain this centuries old game to any person of any age; whether they’ve ever played chess or not. I will not hesitate to recommend, not only this portable chess set, but Daniel, and the company he represents. We are having so much fun playing chess, and the facts that we can pick it up and take it with us wherever we go, and that its magnetic field is purposefully and perfectly designed, gives us that much more Joy. Like many 12 year-old girls, my daughter is way too attached to her phone. As her Dad, I struggle with ways to truly connect with her the older she gets. I bought this chess set with high hopes and low expectations; both from the set itself as well as my daughter liking it. We've now had it for 3 days, and as soon as I come home she asks to play...wait, really? We've played on average 3 hrs/day, mostly just finding fun ways to teach her the basics without her getting frustrated or overwhelmed. The great thing is, I'm having as much or more fun than her, and it's rekindled my love for chess. At about 9.5" x 9.5", this board is substantially smaller than a regulation chess board of 21" x 21", but I think it's actually beneficial, at least for beginners, since it's easier to keep all the pieces in view when contemplating a move. I though it'd be so crowded that seeing the pieces would be challenging, but that's not the case. The magnetic feature is what attracted me to this set in the first place. No worry of someone bumping the board, sending pieces flying. It also makes it easy to move it from one room to another during a game for the same reason. The magnets are strong enough to hold pieces from moderate jarring and angles, but don't go tipping it upside down to check the limits. I'm also a fan of the color scheme of black and silver like this set vs. black & white. It looks like a much higher price set than what I paid. Overall build construction is solid, but my one recommendation to the designers would be to install a quick latching system to keep the middle hinged portion from potentially collapsing and folding by locking the board flat. This would enable safe movements from one location to another mid-game without worry of having it fold up on you like a cheap lawn chair from the 80's, (you know the kind). So this set and I did it. We got my daughter to be more interested in something other than Tik Tok. Is there any more I need to say, really?

Looks good and cheap ish but not exactly. Very good for the price, love it, but wish a few things. I wish there was a better way to store the pieces, a second queen, and something to hold the chest board more flat. Also the magnets a bit stronger. Despite all that, magnets are good enough to stay in place even after moving it fast. That is no reason to have them stronger but I thought they would be stronger. Very good for the price. Of course you can buy better ones for double the price but this is really good actually. Don’t exactly need this but would keep it since it’s pretty nice and portable. Any kid can use this and learn it as long as they know not to swallow or put things in mouth.

Much praise has already been heaped on this nifty little set, so I'll just contribute my two cents quickly. The board is made from a fairly sturdy plastic that feels solid in the hand when folded for travel. The playing surface looks and feels good and is well-aligned. When folded, the set has a minimal footprint and can be stored horizontally or vertically. The pieces are smallish but are shaped and finished well. I've done the upside-down test, and yes, they stay. I really like that the pieces came with a cloth bag for transport inside the folded board; this, combined with the magnets in the pieces, means that this set doesn't rattle much (if at all) during transport, which is an unexpected but welcome feature. The playing surface is a little small, but it's a travel board. Everyone who's played on it so far doesn't mind the size, so I'll go with player reaction here as a good litmus test. I wish there were some way to lock the board in the open position, but other than that, I'd say this set is a pretty great deal at this price.

3 yrs after the purchase, still opens and closes with ease. Great size for travel

I ordered the medium size so my kids can take it to Scout camp. All the pieces are nice quality and the magnets seem strong enough to hold them to the board without issue. Plastic board but very sturdy and the paint seems good. Only complaint is that it would be nice to have a bag to put the whole board into to keep it from getting scratched up but there is a small bag to put the pieces in. You can fit them all inside the board itself so great for taking with you. Overall a good quality piece for the chess lover! It even includes some instructions!

Amazing value for money, and couldn't ask for any better quality at this range. Pieces are very smooth and well designed. I would rate it 10/10 in my book and perfect for gifting and taking it with you places. If it had small zipper plastic pouches for pieces, slightly stronger magnets and a good enough cover for the board I wouldn't mind paying double.
