Works with casement/sliding window ACs
I purchased/researched at least 7 or 8 different kinds of window brackets and this is the only one that worked "well" with my casement (sliding window) air conditioner (Frigidaire 10000 BTU). It's got a width of 14 inches which is much narrower than most of the brackets you can buy which are designed for single/double hung windows. The narrow profile means you need a thinner/narrow mount. The spot where the level on this bracket bumps into one of the rails in the window frame, so I ended up mounting it with the inner 2 holes vs the outer 2 holes. Drilling into the sill is heavily recommended for stability, if you are not drilling, you risk the mount sliding if someone bumps into the AC unit. I used 2 inch AC foam inside bottom of the window frame, screwed the mount over the 2 inch foam, and sat the AC on top creating just about an air tight seal (2 inches compressed down to less than 1). This bracket is a bit narrower than the OEM one, however the Frigidaire OEM mount comes with a very poorly designed siding/wall support that is adjusted by a screw, which eventually unscrews itself.

Works surprisingly well
Held our heavy AC up without budging all summer. Easy to install. Only 2-3 screws into the base of the windowsill. AC sat right on top.

Quality AC bracket that will only work with FLAT bottom AC units
This is a well designed, compact window air conditioner support with a solid feel and design. But..... there are things a potential purchaser needs to know ahead of time. I'm personally not fond of window air conditioners but unless you have a massive and well designed cooling system, sometimes you need a window AC unit in a distant bedroom. I also bought the Frigidaire Energy Star 8,000 BTU 115V Window-Mounted Mini-Compact Air Conditioner w/ Temperature Sensing Remote Control, FFRE0833Q1 from Amazon and the air conditioner arrived a day before the window support. What you need to know about the A/C Safe AC-160 air conditioner support is that it will only work with a window AC unit that has a totally FLAT bottom. The Frigidaire FFRE0833Q1 does NOT have a flat bottom - it has a stepped bottom that makes this support useless. I tried for an hour to make this bracket and the Frigidaire FFRE0833Q1 play nice but they would not. Weary of juggling the 50 pound mini-Atlas stone of an AC unit around, I wound up removing the support unit and simply placing the FFRE0833Q1 in the window per manufacturers instructions. I sort of can't return the bracket, I drilled an extra hole in it trying to make it work but I still think this bracket is a good idea and well made and I'll hang on to it for a potential future use. The bracket itself is not as wide as I thought it would be - maybe 4" or 5" wide made of white powder coated heavy gauge (12 or 14 gauge I would guess) steel with a stainless hinge bolt and two heavy duty blue TapCon screws that will work in wood or brick. I like TapCon screws - they are strong and tough as can be. The bracket is pretty simple to install if you are moderately handy but be aware that it requires drilling into the window sill. You will need a 5/32" drill bit, drill motor or cordless drill driver, tape measure, pencil and #3 Philips screwdriver or drill driver bit. The "extra hole" I mentioned above would actually be a product improvement. The rubber foot that articulates on the bottom of the platform wants to fall off the outside on its own when you slide the AC unit onto the bracket - it was pretty aggravating. I solved that problem by using the 5/32" drill bit to drill through the foot and anchor it to the exterior siding with a stainless screw. That's why I was so aggravated when I had to take the whole darn thing out when it would not work with the FFRE0833Q1 window AC unit with the stepped bottom. In summary, this is a quality bracket with quality hardware that can be installed in ten minutes if you read the instructions (yeah, that part was painful - I'm not into instructions) and have the right tools on hand. They (or you) really should add the single hole in the bottom rubber foot - it was a big help. Hope this data saves someone some time or a prevents an errant purchase.

Great investment to safeguard your ac unit
Stabilizes my window ac unit and also locks it in place to help keep it secure from falls and theft. The person who put in my unit was so impressed, he bought these for his own units. Highly recommended. Holds heavy ac unit easily and safely

Not easy install
Not an easy install requires screws to mount. Although it’s straight forward for installing, there are other mounts out there that you can just toss in the window with adjustable bars to catch the frame.

Love it but hard to install alone
Didn’t know I was gonna need this for my AC unit until I tried to install it without one, what a horrible experience!! Thank God these exist because I almost dropped the unit out my window, which is three stories up. I now feel way more comfortable having this installed, knowing that it won’t fall out. If you’re on the fence, BUY IT! The only issue I had was installing it with a screw gun into my windowsill. Which could be a little problematic if you don’t have a wide lip that extends at least 4 inches out so beware of that problem and be sure to have a screwdriver on hand and be prepared to drill into the wood.

So far so good
Only have had this installed for a month or two, but works pretty well. The one downside is I managed to strip the rod bolt that attaches the foot/leg to the platform. There is a good chance this was my fault as I was using two sockets to tighten things and may have unknowingly let things get cross-threaded and then torqued it down hard. The foot has a good nonslip pad. Seems pretty sturdy. Most importantly, it actually has knowledgeable installation instructions. Most installation instructions can't even be understood nowadays, much less are they helpful. This one teaches you how to determine where the center of gravity sits in your a/c unit and then tells you how to offset the platform mount so it will be balanced. I'm using this for a ~ 50 lb 8000 btu unit and it seems to be working very well. My windows would not work with an a/c without this platform but honestly even if it was possible I would not mount a window a/c without the added security of one of these things. Not bad looking, either - looks equally good/bad as having the a/c sticking out of your window.

I purchased this product because I installed an horizontal air conditioner in a vertical window, on the third floor master of our home. The bracket has proven to be solid, along with a bar I place inside across the window, and extra insurance a ratchet strap using two eye bolts I installed in the window sill. The initial piece, needed to be installed in the window frame, was too wide, by about 1/8". I sent an email to the manufacturer to ask about a narrower block or would it be permissible for myself to narrow the block without changing the integrity of the assembly. They emailed me back within the hour I think and said it would be okay to narrow the block, so I shaved an 1/16 off each side and proceeded to complete the installation. I installed the shelf with what I thought was the appropriate angle, but discovered there was a roll in the air conditioner sitting on the bracket. Pulled the unit back out, increased the down angle more on the bracket and reinstalled the unit. Must work properly, as I see water dripping from the unit outside.

These mounts are just what I required to complete my AC installations. They have held up very well. Coated metal has not shown any signs of rust.
