Bushnell BackTrack Mini GPS Navigation, Portable Waterproof GPS for Hiking Hunting and Backpacking

Wanted something simple, small, dependable and within my price range. Shopped around a bit. Saw the d tour mini. I couldn’t be happier. I do a lot of trail running and day hiking and wanted a compact GPS to give me 2 bits of information. 1- the direction of the truck. I drop a waypoint at the truck. Head out. Pull out the DTour. It tells me (point to point) the direction of the car and as a bonus the number of feet to it. Does not tell me if there is a lake or mountain in between but that’s fine with me. All I wanted was the direction. 2- longitude and latitude. Incase I need help (and have cell phone reception) I can call for help and give them my location. That’s all I was looking for in a GPS and it this does it perfectly. It does more like breadcrumbs, temp, etc but again I don’t care.

Returned two that didn't work. Lots of button pushing just to get it to record a track, then lots of button pushing to download a track.

I downloaded the app prior to purchase to ensure it would run on my S22 Ultra. Once received I took the unit in the wood behind my house to do a short track and record a couple waypoints. Downloaded into app and it seemed to work ok. Took it last weekend on a journey in the swamp then the beach. It tracked the route but will not in any way download the data to the phone app. I've reloaded the app, sign out/in, etc. The Bushnell GPS tracker is useless without the phone app, and my return window has closed. Also, the micro-USB port is super finicky and very difficult to make proper contact for charging. This thing is worthless, do not buy.

Compact, versatile, accurate, fast-charging... So what's not to like? The device comes well packaged with a little not very informative Quickstart Guide. After a couple of days I noticed , in tiny print at the end of the back of the only instructions in the box, "A complete instruction manual is available at www.Bushnell.com" . Not easy to find on the website either, but be assured if you look hard enough, you will find a 65-page multilinual manual for this device. It turns out that this is a far more capable GPS than the initial packaging suggests, with a good range of features and ease of use. The control buttons are small, but ok with a little practice. The cellphone app recommended with the device is mildly useful, and free. Would I buy again? Yes, because eventually i found the manual. Otherwise it's pretty useless.

This is a you-get-what-you-pay-for device. It adequately fulfils what I needed a GPS for, which was as a safety device to be able to verify that I've been travelling in the direction that I expected and to be able to retrace my path, and fulfils my preference for a GPS with a re-chargeable battery. On the down side, it is somewhat difficult to use, with the buttons being hard to press, and significantly over-estimates distance travelled (by an inconsistent amount that has ranged up to 60 percent more than the listed distances in trail guides). It also reported the elevation at High Point, New Jersey as 2023 feet, which is slightly more than 200 feet higher than the official elevation.

I was hesitant at first to get it, seeing how many people complained about the data not syncing to their phone. I had no problems doing it, so I can only assume it's operator error on their part. Handy little device. I was able to get the data to sync to Gaia GPS on my iPhone. Not that I needed to, but I could. Hard to beat for the price. Nice little device if you just need a no-frills GPS with a long battery life.

I had and loved the very simple predecessor and thought this would be a great addition with more features... It did not deliver! Buttons are VERY hard to push even when not on a wiggly horse, thank goodness for lanyard clip. It did not link with the phone app consistently and the app is very buggy. It did do a track (recording my path) but you can't do anything with it cuz app is so crappy. It was a little more accurate than the old one with pointing back to a marked point like a parking spot. I liked the GPS coordinates displayed, that was a nice feature. Oh, the time set...I spent over an hour trying to get that done, SERIOUSLY did they try to find the most convoluted method just to make the rest of the awkward menues seem better?!?! You have to add or subtract timezones in weird increments to try to get it to match.. all without a manual. On that note, this should be a simple thing but even when I found a manual from Bushnell it was seriously sorry-@$$.... Packing up for return now and go look for the early version.

Used it all over Utah

Needed a backup GPS to my phone when daily treking when turning my phone off to save battery. It states 36 hour usage but I've obtained 72 hours myself!!!

I want to buy it again, but sales are closed in my region, please open it again, thank you.

This product is just as good as a gps without the memory but the price is what got me it exactly what I except for a backtracker would highly recommend if you want mini gps /backtracker

Excelente calidad y fácil de usar

Come da titolo il prodotto fubziona egregiasmente per un utilizzo spot semplice ed essenziale ovvero, si accende ed entra in funzione rapidamente, ha una buona precisione (Ricordarsi che indica il target a volo di uccello). Quindi per ritrovare il punbto di partenza di una escursione o ritovare l'auto va benissimo. Due sono i limiti: la app per androidi non funziona e da altra recensione mi risukta che non verrà aggiornata, e nel caso si registri più di un WP può confondersi sulla destinazione (Ovvero và verso target diverso da quello selezionato: Ero informato sul problemna App ma non rilevandone la necessità ho proceduto all'acquisto. Dispiace, invece, per la instabilità sulla destinazione ma, determinnando un solo Wp il problema non sussiste. Consiglio l'acquisto se si è ben consci della destinazione d'uso.
