Okay if you need cheap.
This liitle adapter works great for me when dialing out and for switching between Skype and LAN line calls, but the unit locks up when receiving a Skype call. I checked and rechecked all the settings, the problem is either a defective unit or some incompatibility issue with my PC. I forward incoming Skype calls to my cell anyway so this is not that big of a deal for me. As another reviewer said, the install instructions need to be updated. The install files are in a zip file that will need to be uncompressed onto your hard drive, you will then need to browse to this location during set up. Not a big deal for those that are computer savy, but could be a show stopper for the technically challenged.Another minor anoyance is having to dial the country code when dialing out through Skype. The country code is not needed when you use the computer to dial out, why does it have to be dialed when using the phone?Bottom line, if you can afford a better device then go for it. If you want cheap, this device will work but just keep in mind that you get what you pay for with this unit.

TERRIBLE, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, GET A BETTER ONE
I am at my second converter adapter and I only use it for VOIP, I don't have a regular phone line, so I can't comment on that. The first converter box I bought was "VoIP USB RJ11 (PSTN) Converter Adapter (B2K) for Skpe Soft-Phone" and it just didn't work at all. I purchased it from Cubeternet, returned the defective unit and bought me the next model up, the "USB VoIP Phone Gateway for SKYPE AU-600".It seemed to work ok for a while with bad reception and some problems with voice prompt (such as when you call your bank, for example, and you enter your account number) it just wouldn't recognize the dial tone. The it started to drop calls in the middle of the conversation, and now it got to be so bad that as soon as I answer my call it goes straight to voice-mail.This turned out to be such a nightmare, and most of the time I just unplug it (bypassing it) and just call from my computer using Skype, and everything is fine.I know for a fact is not my phone, not only because it's new and a good reliable brand, but also because I tested it at a friend's house with a regular phone line and it worked great. It's the converter box. I guess that's what you get for 25 bucks. I'll just have to shop for a better one because i like being able to use Skype on my cordless without being in front of my computer all the time.Hope to spare you the frustration I had.

USB Analog Terminal Adapter for Skype
This is my second Skype to phone adapter and it works flawlessly so far.I love the extra feature like Caller ID, Conferencing between skype and standard phone and the ability to use Skype when I am on the road. The answering machine and recording features also work great. The only thing that surprises me is the low price. On the minus, installation procedure can be improved. The setup files are stored in a Zip file on a disk (why? they are not so big). I unzipped and stored them in another folder, ran the setup, but when the new device wizard popped up, I had to direct it to the just created folder.
