The Action Bible Review: (live video test & demo) 2nd One I've Bought! - ✏️ Quick thoughts to supplement my video demonstration. 📍 Are there enough stories? Incredible number of stories (over 200)--this thing is THICK and solid. I'm surprised this isn't a $50-70 book. 📍 Message content: Is it accurate? I liken this Bible to "The Message," in that it's a paraphrase. Really I am ashamed there are some who claim this Bible "isn't detailed" enough or doesn't represent the Bible... that's because it's not the Bible. Similar to the Sistine Chapel, it explains Biblical truths in an engaging, dramatic, and artistic way that is relevant to our culture's art-form (i.e. graphic novels). In the same way it would be unfair to see the Sistine Chapel and complain how Michelangelo painted Cane and Able in the nude. It's an artistic interpretation. But yes, it can and will definitely get people closer to God, in the same way our great Christian artists move and inspire people towards God using their artistic talents. That said, it's not a replacement for the Bible. But an awesome tool nonetheless. Get it! 📍 Are the illustrations to graphic? No, they're tastefully done. Actually considering the Bible's rather violent history, there should be a lot more blood. But there's not. I'd rate this PG depending on the maturity of your child and his/her understanding of Biblical text. 📍 Who's this for? I'm 29 years old (Theology Major too), and I love it. Perfect for teenagers or kids you're looking to get hooked on Biblical studies. Buy several and give them away as gifts! 📍 Bottom line: would I recommend this product to one of my friends? 👍 Yes, absolutely. Review: Bought As Gift For Nephew, Wanted To Read It Myself! - Until I found this book on desertcart, I didn't know they made comic book Bibles. I looked at a couple other Bibles and decided on this one based on the Look Inside function. When it arrived, I unwrapped it to write an inscription on the inside for my nephew's 15th birthday and I leafed thru it and showed my husband. I am quite impressed with the artwork! And with the story context. As a 40-something year old adult, even I was drawn to the stories and the art. Each section is 1 to 3 pages long, perfect for today's youth and their shorter attention spans, and I was really drawn to it. I believe a child or teen who would never sit down and read the Bible would happily read this book, and probably more than once, and probably even share it with friends and peers. It's not the King James, certainly, but it gives basic Biblical concepts and stories in a format that will attract and keep the interest of its readers. The chapters and verses the stories reference are clearly marked at the top of each section so the reader can pull out the KJV or NIV and read more to find out what happens next. As for the one I bought, it's all wrapped in birthday paper and packed into a box to mail out of state, but I wish it wasn't! I would go read it from cover to cover right now. I hope my nephew will do the same.

Bought As Gift For Nephew, Wanted To Read It Myself!

Great for everyone
Already reading and love the details in the pictures. Never been one to sit and fully read the Bible but I fully intend to read cover to cover.

Looking For a Bible For My PreTeen
One of the things you have to do as a parent is to keep your kids in an age-appropriate Bible. For them to love the Word of God you need to give them: A Bible they understand. A Bible they can learn the discipline of reading alone A Bible that is comprehensive enough to paint a picture of the grand narrative of Scripture. My favorite Bible for kids 3-6 is the Jesus Storybook Bible. But what next? My friends at David C. Cook have many options they are the go-to Bibles for our house when our kids grow out of the Jesus Storybook Bible. They have three options for kids 5-13 that do a fantastic job of visually illustrating the Bible without sacrificing truth. The Action Storybook Bible invites families with children ages 8 and under to explore God’s redemptive story together. From the sleek and amazing creatures God created at the beginning of the world to the powerful kings who reigned over ancient Israel to Jesus’s gift of eternal life for you and your family—God has a beautiful and exciting plan for the world. Where do you fit into that plan? How are the truths found in God’s Word reflected in your life? The Action Bible presents 215 fast-paced narratives in chronological order, making it easier to follow the Bible’s historical flow—and reinforcing the build-up to its thrilling climax. The stories in The Action Bible communicate clearly and forcefully to contemporary readers. This compelling blend of clear writing plus dramatic images offers an appeal that crosses all age boundaries. Brazilian artist Sergio Cariello has created attention-holding illustrations marked by rich coloring, dramatic shading and lighting, bold and energetic designs, and emotionally charged figures. A distinct icon that appears whenever a story is included in The Action Bible Activate Reflection on Bible themes and how they apply to life today Ancient Archives Cultural history of ancient times—what were clothes, houses, weapons, food, celebrations, and traditions like? Experience the Drama Comic book artist Sergio Cariello’s dramatic illustrations capture the imagination and transport readers to another time. Forty full-color illustrated pages throughout the Bible and over two hundred in-text black and white illustrations. Plus book introductions, maps, a dictionary, concordance, and more. What I love about the people at David C. Cook is their desire to tell all the stories of the Bible to kids. They don't leave out the problematic passages but rather present them in a biblically faithful age-appropriate way. There is a philosophy in the kid's ministry world that says all the Bible is not appropriate for kids. I disagree. All of the Bible is appropriate for kids and yet HOW you teach them those difficult passages matters. The folks at Cook have a passion for the gospel and for kids understanding and living the Bible. If you have a child between the years of 7 and 13, please head over to Amazon and pick up an appropriate version of the Action Bible for you kids today.

My kids love this style of Bible. They love marvel and dc etc so this is right up their street. The pictures are fantastic very comic esq and it is excellent at helping the children understand some complex issues arising in the bible. It opens up discussion about God, his word and plans and love for us. It is a great bedtime read. My children love to recap every evening, look at the pictures and wait expectantly for the next part of each story. Please note some more gruesome stuff is left out, or not so much detail in some parts but then you have the bible for that. In all it is age appropriate and opens up to children the validity of God in their lives and how to hear and see him, aswell as some incite to some very difficult questions that children always have. I would highly encourage any parent to read this to their child or for their child to read and enjoy for themselves. A great book for a gift!!

My 9-year-old LOVED this and has read it cover to cover twice already. She's often bored by Bible stories she's 'heard a million times' but this Bible really changed her relationship with the scriptures and has allowed her to understand and connect with the stories in a totally new way. We all love the Action Bible and have recommended it to lots of friends!

I bought the action bible for my son who was 10 years old at the time. He likes comic books so I thought this would get his attention. I read it myself to make sure it is biblically accurate before giving it to him. It is in fact accurate but a little abridged when it comes to details behind some of the stories. For example it summarizes David’s journey from poetic God fearing shepherd to king of Israel. Touching all the major points but not getting to in depth on any of them. Overall I would recommend this bible for children ages 8-12. The artwork is intriguing and lends to the storytelling. Just the kind of thing to interest kids enough to enjoy reading it.
