Review: Follow the instructions and application goes flawlessly - The VHT wrinkle black is a great finish for vintage auto restoration projects, and even old audio gear. Be careful with how heavy you apply the paint, because the build-up after several of the required coats can cause some pretty freaky looking wrinkled runs. I only had that happen once, and then slightly backed off of how heavily I applied each coat. A well-prepared surface, proper room temperature, and evenly sprayed coats will result in a perfect wrinkle finish! Review: WORKED WELL!!! - MY RESULTS WERE MORE OF A ROUGH TEXTURE RATHER THAN A WRINKLE EFFECT BUT THE END RESULT WAS STILL ADEQUATE FOR MY NEEDS. IT WAS A PLASTIC PART. HAD IT BEEN METAL, POSSIBLY, THE EFFECT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIDDERENT.

It works very well for me
I have used this paint to refinish aluminum panels from classic radio equipment that originally were finished in black crinkle or wrinkle finishes by their manufacturer. The results I obtained were excellent in my opinion. This paint creates a close match to that used on Collins-designed WWII era military equipment. However, it did find it necessary to bake the wet finish on, per the directions on the can, (at 200F deg for about an hour) in order to attain the tighter wrinkle pattern that closely matches the original equipment's finish. You will want to open some windows - the smell is strong while it's baking. I used my gas grill outdoors to bake smaller items. The result is a hard finish that looks very good and should hold up well. Prep did not require stripping the original finish - I simply scuffed and degreased the remaining original finish and feathered the edges around several bare areas. Be sure to apply three coats, allowing 5 minutes of drying time between coats. I have not used room temperature drying, as it leaves a looser wrinkle pattern than I wanted

Pass this one by, and buy local for spray paint folks
Gonna have to blast all of this off and start over. The wrinkle is inconsistent between wrinkling and smooth. Says you have to lay it on thick to get it to wrinkle. Well I tried multiple methods and it's inconsistent in all of them. That's not so much my issue. I didn't care if it was wrinkled or not really. I figured this paint would be durable as hell. Well I can just about scrape it off with my fingernail. This went on a surface that was flap disc ground then washed and wiped clean. The paint is already scratched in places where I used ZIP TIES to secure it... Yes, plastic zip ties scraped the paint off after 4 days of dry time. What the hell!?! What a waste of money and time. And I can't even return it. Oh and I spotted it 30% cheaper this afternoon at auto zone... It's $9.50 there and I paid $30 for 2 cans on here! Live and learn... Do your research. I've used this brand Caliper paint on barely prepped calipers with great results, but this wrinkle paint is ๐ฉ Go a different route.
