I have only used this product for 4 days now. Prior to that I used my own DIY mix which I will go back to for the most part. My DIY mix and Heiro have some of the same herbs and seeds in them but they are far from the same. And with Heiro there is no need to add some of the items I need to with my own gmo free, organic mix. My mare has no issues with eating my DIY mix or Heiro I am happy to say. I mean if she even thinks there is any sort of medicine value to what you are giving her, its off of the menu for her, period no matter how hungry the PPID tells her she is. I was as nervous to try my mix as I was Heiro. I was relieved to smell the wonderful light scent Heiro has. I was sure she would love it, and she did! She still nickers in anticipation when she see's her pellet bucket coming!! Since her severe founder and PPID diagnosis with her past owner and the inability to even get up, she was almost put down. And even though you can still see PPID in her platted out hooves, bulging eyes, excessive winter coat and obvious sweating, she has lost a bunch of weight and looks better than she has in a long time just from being on free fed grass hay. She is not a "picky" eater per say, but she refuses any medicine, or anything she deems a med in a big stressful way, so the vet weaned her off of the meds and she improved even though she wasn't getting ANY suppliments! Well, I have her now and she's been on my DIY suppliments for 1 week and Heiro alone for 4 days now, almost 2 weeks now. Her coat always sheds beautifully, but it is double, possibly triple, a normal winter coat. When she has stress related sweats, in the winter, her coat takes forever to dry. Every day this week I have gone out there, there is less and less sweat to brush out, so there is a steady daily improvement, even on the Heiro! And with Heiro there are no real measurements. No grinding of seeds fresh daily, and herbs, or adding magnesium because its all already in the Heiro mix. It is as simple as adding one full scoop (no matter the size of the horse) as a top dressing to her low sugar pellets. How easy is that? Especially for caretakers? Wow! And she loves it. My hope is that between using Heiro when I'm out of town, and my mix inbetween, her winter coat will come in normally, and the abnormal sweats will forever disappear. So far I do really like this product. It is worth the money. I will continue to have this product on hand purely for the convenience of it especially while I am out of town.

Im now using it on my other horse , who is 22 yrs old and has leg issues. The verdicts still out. Because it takes a few mos to see results. But my other mare, 24 yrs old, has been on it for almost a year & my vet just saw her yesterday & said Wow, what have I been doing? I said walking her daily & giving her this product..idk just saying

I got this for an obese mini that I got from a rescue situation. She safely lost a lot of weight and kept her from a laminitis situation.

This is so full of healthy ingredients that support hooves, hair and general health of your horse. It smells wonderful and therefore the horses love it and eat it right up which doesn't always happen with supplements. I would give it 5 stars if the price wasn't higher than I think is necessary.

This has definitely made a difference for my ponies in a matter of just a week. I’ll continue to purchase. A little pricey but worth their comfort.

Insulin resistane

This product has helped my horse with her laminitis, she went from hardly being able to walk to now running and keeping up with all her friends. I would highly recommend this.

I started using Heiro about 40 days ago as of the time I am writing this review. It is a last resort to helping my horse recover from insulin resistance and chronic founder due to the insulin levels. She was not sound enough to exercise and was not over weight. She was prescribed Metformin which helped the symptoms but her mouth and throat ulcerated so bad that we had to discontinue use. I have an excellent farrier also caring for her. She foundered again and was depressed with obvious pain all over her body. She was suffering to the point I was giving up and considering euthanizing her at only 13 years old. That's when out of desperation I started researching other alternatives of treatment. Heiro had good reviews so I purchased the 180 day dose. 40 days later she is finally down to Heiro and weaned down to 10mg bute twice a day. I reduce bute every day slowly. She was stalled for months to keep her off her feet to let the laminae heal. I have her outside for some exercise some of the day and hoof pain is greatly improved. I have hope now. I said when I purchased Heiro that I would give her the 180 days and if she was not better I would put her down. I was skeptical when I purchased Heiro but I have to say it is working and I have hope for a complete recovery. I will post another review in a couple of months to update our progress! Hopefully we can get back on the trails again!
