If you have a Silentaire compressor like me (I have the Super Silent 20A) you are pretty much required to use this oil. I had used Badger oil in the past but this is the first time I completely emptied the compressor and put a new oil in it. I figured that it would be better to use their oil. I have no problem with the compressor before or after changing the oil, it works flawless. In conclusion I would say that this oil is fine, a bit expensive but like I said you have no choice.

Needed it for an old high end Airbrush Air compressor. Saved the day!

I picked up a used Silentaire compressor for airbrushing miniatures. I read prior that they like this specialty oil. I thought "heh I'm sure I can find a substitute as there are so many quality synthetic compressor oils out there" but I have yet been able to get another manufacturer to confirm or recommend an equivalent oil. I was buying this off eBay from a seller but they decided to jack their price up higher than Amazon so the last bottle or two came from Amazon. I'm half tempted to try another oil if I could find a test compressor to trial it on. After having these compressors apart, I'm really shocked that they require such an expensive oil for such a common refrigerator compressor (these compressors on the Silentaire products definitely appear to be a run of the mil refrigerator compressor and there are many videos on YouTube showing compressors being refurbished in India). I think the oil cost comes from needing a pure oil for medical/dental air which many of these Silentaire compressors are used for. I bet for nail guns and air brushes an equivalent ester based compressor oil with the same iso viscosity would do.
