Capcom is new brand for Genteq
FYI Genteq was rebranded as Capcom. I received this Capcom capacitor and thought it was a bait and switch, but looked it up and it is the same company. This worked fine and replaced a similarly specโed Genteq capacitor. HVAC spun right up after installation. Working perfectly.

Perfect. Fixed my AC for 18 bucks.
Woke up yesterday morning to a warm, stuffy room. Nice! Spent some time with some basic troubleshooting. No dice! After exhausting the basics, I discovered my condenser fan wasn't coming on. I could hear the motor buzzing, though. I gave it a spin with a stick, and it slowly started building up speed. Yeeha! I thought, maybe a bad motor, but maybe I can limp it until I find a replacement. Nooooo. Maxed out at a low speed, sounding like it kept wanting to go faster, but couldn't. Started looking around a bit more. Did some more research and found a few videos talking about the symptoms of a bad start/run capacitor. Sure sounded like my situation. Ordered this one, and it arrived today - next day. Spent maybe an hour, taking my time, getting it swapped out and checking some stuff. Fan started up properly, but my system was stuck in heat mode. Shut everything off a couple of times, but it took me switching it into Heat mode, then off for a while, then on again in Cool for it to actually switch to cooling. Cooling again for $35 for the capacitor and breaker, and a little time researching. Not to take away from the HVAC pros - I don't get a full system check-out doing this stuff myself. This system's American Standard, only 5yrs old. I do have the 5+5 warranty on it, but I swear, the old Trane I had when I bought this place ran longer, trouble-free, and it was already old when I got here...

Been working great for last couple years
I got this a couple years ago after my A/C wouldn't start. It was easy to install and has worked no problem ever since.

This and youtube saved me a few hundred bucks!
In quick summary, this replaced my existing GE 97F9895 HC98JA046D and fix my problem of cold air not coming out due to the fan from outside unit not running. Below is the whole story as an FYI and exact issue and symptom that I saw if you are interested. Yesterday(Friday) morning, I heard some strange noise and it sounded like it was coming from outside some where but not my house. Later in the late afternoon, I noticed inside temperature was warmer than usual and the air blowing wasn't much cooler than running regular fan. At first I thought it was because outside was too hot as we were just getting over the heatwave. Then I became more suspicious and noticed that the fan from outside unit wasn't turning, but air was blowing from the vents. I've experienced something similar before where I had to turn off the thermostat and wait maybe 15 to 30 minutes for somethings to get reset then when I turn back on, things worked. So I did that, but this time, it was still the same. So I looked into more and noticed that noise I heard in the morning might have been coming from my unit outside. Something seems to be trying to start, but it wasn't getting started and after few minutes the noise stopped. I thought maybe it's doing a self-shutdown to protect damaging itself. So I first turned off AC and just ran the fan as turning on AC made no difference anyways. And I wanted to avoid any further damage. I then made appointment with HVAC service for Monday afternoon. Then I remember my neighbor telling me long ago how simple it was to just replace some part of AC unit and fixed his problem. So I did some search on web and it looked like my problem was with the capacitor. So I did some more search on YouTube on how to replace the capacitor as well as about discharging the capacitor which is a very important step. See the included video for the problem and image for the part that was replacing. Then I saw this part and it had overnight shipping was like $8 or $9, but Amazon prime trial was only $1.99 and I could get it next day by 10PM for free. I usually get my stuff from Amazon early afternoon, so I joined the prime trial and ordered using regular prime next day shipping. There was an option to pay $2-$3 extra to get it early in the morning, but I didn't take that option which I should have. I got the part next day(Saturday) around 3:30PM. We were lucky that it was kind of cloudy in the morning, so things were just starting to get hot now. I already did prep work on my outside unit so that all I have to do is just replace when the part comes and close it up. I discharged the new capacitor just in case someone had charged it before and returned without discharging. Discharged the existing capacitor again just to be safe. And it took maybe 5 minutes to get it replaced and put things back. And I got my cold air back!!! Inside temperature on 2nd floor was 88 F and so it's taking a long time to cool it down. And this is the part where I now regret that I should have paid extra $2-$3 shipping and get the part early in the morning so that I could fix this before inside became that hot. So I spent around $25(including Prime trial), got the part next day in the afternoon, and probably saved minimum $200 for HVAC service guy doing this for me. I just hope this thing stays running for another 15+ years!

Fit perfectly, easy installation
Our air conditioner/heat pump suddenly stopped working after I had forgotten to change the filter in it for waaayyyy too long. I was petrified that I had broken it, and what should have been a $40 replacement of the filter was going to end up costing thousands for a new unit. Before calling a service person, I called a friend who flips houses and asked if he had an "HVAC guy". He did. He sent over a friend of his who is a retired hvac person, and the guy took a look at it and said he thought that it was a simple fix. He told me exactly what to order and told my husband how to install it when it arrived. It came in a day or two and took my husband, who is not an HVAC pro, all of 15 minutes to get our A/C up and running again. This was an exact match for our system and was easy for my guy to install after a quick explanation from someone who knows what they're doing. It ran our A/C through the hottest end of Summer/beginning of Fall that I can remember and so far, (knock on wood), it's doing it's job fantastically in the winter as well. I would definitely recommend this item if you are in need of a new capacitor.

high quality capacitor
I have replaced the capacitor about two years ago, it has been running strong, no issue. Exactly the same size as the original one, so the installation is quite straightforward, took about 15 minutes to replace it. I would recommend it.

Worked perfect
Took a wild guess that this was the reason my ac unit fan wasnโt moving. Unit is only 5 years old, put it in and it started instantly. Very happy and much cooler now.

Excellent replacement capacitor
Replaced a GE 97F9895 capacitor in a Carrier AC when the compressor and fan would not turn on. The replacement Genteq capacitor is slightly shorter in length and fits perfectly in the bracket. AC started perfectly on change out and continues to work well. Excellent product. Would purchase again. Fair price and quick shipping.
