When I close the iron together the plates do not completely touch, only on the top. Is it supposed to be like this, or should I return it?

I purchased this same flat iron about three years ago from a beauty supply store (came with a 1” ultra thin iron and a 1 1/2” wet to dry iron). In every other aspect these irons are theoretically perfect. Unfortunately, the issue you identify is exactly why I cannot even use the ultra thin iron and have had to purchase three others to find a decent alternative (found it on Amazon). I have thick, coarse, bra length hair and I have two teen daughters with the same. I part very thin sections- but we still feel snag on one side and/or insufficient straightening on the other side (side closest to the V closure). I’ve returned the product had it replaced… with the same issue of plates touching only on the open end/top. That, on top of the remnants of blue ink of the iron making it onto my hair (with each item) makes this an absolute NO NO. The only other items I would bother to try in hopes to avoid these issues are the Prima 3000 or the U Styler. I would not spend my money though. They’d have to offer me a switch for the ones I have. As I now own 5 flat irons because of my inability to use my babyliss purchases. Good Luck.

Yes, absolutely. And it does a it wonderfully. You have to learn how to do it but I promise you will get a very good long lasting curl with it once you do. I never use a curling iron anymore.
