Review: Very efficient read, you will know what types of neural networks exist and how to use existing methods. This book will not teach you how to do the research for your own custom neural network methods, but that is quite unnecessary most of the time. This book does a very good job in staying on the high level logic, instead of getting lost in mathematical details. Review: This is a good book. The descriptions are clear and I have gained a good basic understanding of neural networks and their various forms. There are a couple of faults: First, the Tensorflow and Keras interfaces have moved on since the book was written. I've received a number of warnings that certain calls are "depreciated". Unless you're prepared to read through the latest Tensorflow, Keras, etc API descriptions on the web, you won't get the example code to run. Second, throughout the book, there are references to items "circled in red" or text that is "highlighted". Sadly the book is printed in greyscale only, so the "red" circles look much like the ither circles on the page and the highlighted words (on p201 for example) cannot be seen. Great writing spoilt by, I suppose, a cheapskate publisher who can't be bothered to print in colour. The first problem I can live with. The second is just awful and costs 2 stars in terms of the review.

I found this book VERY helpful. It walks you through step by step of each project and explained what was happening. The preprocessing sections are detailed and thorough. The chapter on CNN's could've been more detailed when you got to building the layers. I had to copy and paste the code and google it to understand what was going on. Overall happy with my purchase.
