White-Rodgers 80 Series, Non-Programmable, Multi-Stage Thermostat, 1F85U-22NP

I bought this to replace the 20 year old 7 day/programmable thermostat I have been battling with for way too long. This Emerson model is super easy to wire up & use. Just a few buttons and has a large lit-up easy-to-read screen. Do an initial setup (read the included manual and google anything that you may not understand in order to select the correct settings for YOUR home's AC/heater). I now just select Heat/Off/Cool - set the temperature and walk away. Everyone in my family can easily operate it without any issues. We have now had it for two hot summer seasons and it has worked flawlessly with our AC unit. Will update if I have any future issues. Hope this review helps!

Purchased to replace a "smart" thermostat that kept losing programmed settings. Didn't really need the programable feature. This is a simple heat, cool, off unit that is easy to read and set. After a couple of weeks of use it's doing the job nicely. Well pleased with the unit and value for the money.

Very accurate thermostat. My old one the display started going wonky. Very easy to install. Has batteries to keep the info in memory should you lose power. Very easy to connect, just pops right on to the back plate.

Does the job

An engineer is not required to install, setup, and operate this thermostat. In the past, we have relied on cutting edge programmable units with touch screens. If you have ever had the ‘pleasure’ of trying to find the correct spot to touch for the execution of a function, you will appreciate the physical buttons of this unit. After reading the installation and operating instructions, along with a picture of the wiring to the old thermostat, this project was child’s play.😎

I took two stars off because there was no manual included with this unit (1F85U-22NP). When I finally did find a manual online it was very sparse detail of how to set up the "auto-crossover" feature. I wasn't even mentioned other than either enabling it or disabling it. How to set the temp. limits. The user menu in the downloaded manual was also way different from what the unit displayed. I also bought the 1F85U-22PR. The manual that DID come with this unit was also vague on how to set the auto crossover feature. Good units, HORRIBLE documentation on both units.

This is a good basic thermostat. My old thermostat was a Honeywell and it finally gave out after 17 years. I decided to replace it with one that did not require reading a hundred page book on how to run it. This is a manual unit and works as described. The display is clear and has large numbers. The display lights up when one adjusts the temperature. I really like the ease with which I can adjust the temperature, one button for up and one button for down. The major defect with this thermostat is its accuracy. When it was installed the tech set the cycle rate at low which is recommended. This caused the temperature to over shoot by 4 degrees. I had the thermostat set at 69 and the room would heat up to 73. I reset the cycle rate to fast and now the over shoot is only 1 degree which is acceptable. The good part is that it does not under shoot which would make the room too cold. My old thermostat would keep the room at exactly the temperature as set. The air conditioning mode is more accurate, the room is about 1 degree warmer than set, but not cooler than set. It is now 1 year and the accuracy for heating is worse. The unit will allow the furnace to run until the room is 3 degrees warmer than set. This is too much and I am constantly going to the unit to set it down a degree or two. I would not buy this unit again and am thinking about replacing it with a Honeywell which will keep the temperature in the room as set.

Easy to install, large screen is a plus, large control buttons. Internal level is great when installing the unit.
