As advertised..... Kind of.
I'm updating my original review. I have come to love this griddle. After 30+ years of using many griddles, this has proven to be the best of them all. Its costly for sure, but you absolutely wont find a better griddle that heats evenly with great non-stick. I get the reviews about the exact temperature of the settings, no issues, I jest set it lower... I'm the grandpa who makes the worlds best pancakes... Perfect $160 for an Electric Griddle, just completely crazy, but I decided to buy this for two advertised features. Ever heat distribution and easy to clean, and one feature important to me with the higher sides but not as high as a large electric skillet. Yes the temperature was even. I used a scanning laser thermometer and cooked french toast this morning. Set the temperature to 350 and let it preheat. the temperature varied 5-12 degrees edge to edge, end to end... perfect Not perfect is that when set to 350 the temp was 405 degrees, so I adjusted to 300 to accomplish my goal. Six slices of toast were cooked even with no hot spots whatsoever, a lifetime first and worth a premium. Yes it was very easy to clean but with four 20" components it took up some counter space to dry. The quality is medium and will take special care not to damage but not cheap and flimsy, this is where the cost was excessive, for this much I expected a substantial build. each component will flex easily except the cooking plate, this is solid but has a very warning to not drop it.. I think I'm an idiot for spending this much, but every once in a while ??

Finally found the perfect griddle… BUT!!!
***UPDATE*** Im leaving my reviews at 5 stars because I love this product, but I cannot recommend buying it through this seller. They are not an authorized dealer so the manufacturer won’t honor their warranty. *** No, it's not just a griddle, how dare you! It's a work or art! Okay, it's just a griddle, but it a REALLY good griddle and I've been looking around for a long time. Bought and returned a few (sorry Amazon), but I finally bit the bullet and spent more than I would have ever thought. but it was totally worth it. Some of the things that make this so great... The burner isn't attached to the cooking surface so it heats the air underneath and that creates a very even cooking surface. How about pancakes that look like pancakes and not rorschach tests, but rather golden brown? Clean up. Clean up is another amazing feature because it comes apart completely. The base, burner, cook surface all come apart allowing you to use soap and water and not just wipe things down. One note! The base is hollow, so you can clean it but be careful because if you run water directly on it, you will get water taped inside. Learned the hard way and had to take it apart to dry. The lid. I was standing over an entire pack of bacon snapping grease spits of death when I remembered, duh, a lid. No moe burns. The cord. Ever notice that your griddle either forces you to use an extension cord or somehow have a custom griddle spot on your counter with an outlet 1 foot from the griddle? This comes with a nice long cord that actually lock in and when it's locked it also locks in the cooking surface. My last griddle, on the first use I wasn't thinking and used a metal spatula. Big scratch, right out the gate. This COMES with a metal spatula. It's not a delicate non-stick surface. It's heavy duty. Flip and smash those burgers! I had family over and I was working the line like a pro, cooking for 6, 3 cakes at a time then into the oven to stay warm. Bacon on one side. Hash on the other (little bacon grease seeps into the hash, gotta love it). I t was actually fun to cook for 6 people. As you can see I've completely geeked out over this. I love cooking and I love when I get an kitchen item that really improves the experience. Air Fryer. Instant Pot. A griddle that can actually handle restaurant style cooking. You're in the hall of fame. Stop looking. Spend the extra.

This is my BABY !!!!!! Read this REAL review !!
I bought this a few years ago. I really wasn't expecting this grill to still be perfect. Most grills just stop working. But, this specific grill is my go to cooker. I cook EVERYTHING on it. I cook ribs, chicken, spaghetti (yes spaghetti by just adding water and salt just enough to cover the spaghetti in water) and it comes out like a restaurant meal !! I even cook rice in it with peppers, onions and stuffed olives. Yummy !! Here is a trick I do to cook in this. I remove the actual grill part. Then I insert the electric connection by lowering a button that clamps it in. Then I put regular cooking pots on top of the hot grill area and it serves as a regular stove as well. Do not do that using ceramic pots. Use aluminum or iron pots. I only do that when cooking eggs or soups or rice. But when cooking stuff like meats I leave the original grill part in and cook anything in a couple of hours. It gets hot right away. So this is the real deal. I always cook at 350 degrees and NOT any hotter to not trip the electric circuit in the house. That temperature is perfect to cook anything all the time. The top non stick layers does wear off quickly but I don't care because washing it is so simple by just pouring water in the grill area and letting it heat up to a quick boil. Then I just pour the water out and wipe it down. I don't use any soap in it. Even with grease leftovers the hot water detaches the oil from the grill within a few minutes of it boiling. If the food is somehow stuck on the pot too much then pour water into the grill and let it sit over night with the lid on it with the grill off. The next morning all the food parts come right out. I have had NO problems using this grill for the last two years. Not more to say than that. Yeah, this is the one to buy !! Five year update on this grill: I bought this grill on June 2020. This update is now on June 2025. I still love my grill and I'm still using it daily to cook all my lunch and dinner meals. The heating floor still works perfectly and the rest of the grill parts have not broken or teared. Yes I still love my grill. It is definitely wide enough. It is about 13 inches long and 10 inches wide for pots other than the actual grill (those are the measurements inside the actual cooking surface. The outer parts including the handles and outer grill holder areas are longer and wider. Get it.

All your French toast ready at the same time!
This griddle is perfect. The temperature is very even across the bottom. We made the best bacon ever today with a pound laid across it. Keep the temperature almost high to drive the water off, turn it down and cook the slices to lightly browned, crisp cards. For breakfast it cooked up a dozen eggs, leftover salmon filet, and scoops of wild rice into a nice scramble. The depth of the griddle works well for this. And it makes perfect pancakes. The design is smart. The griddle doesn't go in the dishwasher, but three pieces of the stack hand wash easily. And the fourth part of the stack, with the electric element, is well protected from splatter - so doesn't need to be washed.

Decent but not the hoped-for savior
It's very hard to find a good griddle. The usual problems are bad heat control, bad heat uniformity, or annoying to clean, or all of the above. This one is great to clean. The heat uniformity is very good. But the heat control is still only so-so. The temperature overshoots to 400+ degrees F when pre-heating it at 300. The instructions tell you to pre-heat it for 8 minutes, which might be enough time to get you past the overshoot, but it's pretty annoying to have the thing smoking and sizzling because of being 420 degrees when you just wanted it to heat to 300. Plus that's a long time to wait. Second, it's not designed for use at lower temperatures. The lowest temperature setting is 300, but I like to cook eggs at 250. You can set the dial lower than 300, but the temperature control isn't good and swings between 250 and 300 as the element kicks on and off. This is usable but not ideal. I had hoped some company would have cracked the code of an electric griddle that does the one thing you want an electric griddle to do...heat up correctly. It's still better than anything else I've found so I'm keeping it. I just can't give it all 5 stars because of the temperature control is still not quite there.

Absolutely Amazing Griddle
The best griddle I have ever bought, just wipe clean, no sticking, no mess, comes with a long cord. Good size to make 6 French toast and eggs at the same time. Eggs don’t even stick, use cooking oil or spray. Absolutely amazing griddle. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!! I highly recommend this item!!

Great Cooking
I used it for the first time. And I have to say it's great. Holds a lot of food. I don't notice any spots that are hotter than other spots. Seems to get the same temperature all around. I know some people did say that it overheats. However, I haven't had that issue thus far. When it gets to a certain temp. The light shuts off and it heats up again. If you're cooking wingettes or boneless skinless chicken thighs. I suggest you put the top on and keep it 300 degrees or less as it does heat up quick. Happy cooking!!!

Safety concern and manufacturer doesn't care.
I would like to say this is a great product, except for one major safety concern. The even heating surface and ease of cleaning is great, but this was all tarnished due to another component. I believe the temp control is defective and the manufacturer is aware of this but does not act. My experience started with reading a lot of reviews and deciding to give this griddle a try. I was aware that some reviews highlighted the super high temp during preheat and hoped I was not going to experience it. I WAS WRONG!! The first time I used it, I noticed the temp was a lot hotter than I thought it should be during the "8 minute preheat" phase. I used a digital thermometer probe and it showed the temp was over 500 degrees. I had the dial set at only 350 and the highest setting on the dial is 425. I assumed this could be the "initial" break-in and decided to wait for another use. I experienced the same thing the next time and became concerned. On the third use, I took pictures to prove to the manufacturer that I was not making up the high temps during the preheat phase. At 6-7 minutes and the dial set to 350, my reading was 475-480 degrees and it was still heating. When the heating light finally went out I had a reading of 484 degrees. I called customer service, first caller and waited over 10 minutes, to see if this was normal because their manual does not mention that the griddle will get this hot during preheating. I was informed that using a digital thermometer was not an accurate way to prove it was as hot as I claimed! Even if my way was not 100% accurate, it was still well over the maximum temperature allowed on the temp control unit! It does not seem safe to get that hot and is it possible that the nonstick coating will deteriorate faster? After providing pictures and receipt, the customer service rep responded saying that the manufacturer warranty was voided because even though I got it at Amazon, Amazon was not the seller. They would not even attempt to work with me or send a new temp control unit in order to try and resolve the problem. Truly disappointed because it seems like the manufacturer wanted to wash their hands of their faulty product and leave me with a safety concern! I would hate for this to happen to anyone else so look at the manufacturer's website to know who to buy it from, if you decide to buy it at all. I ask that you stay away from Zojirushi because of my experience and similar ones like it. I called Amazon and the customer rep immediately issued a return label and apologized for the manufacturer's poor customer service. Thank you Amazon!

Best electric griddle I have ever used
I bought this electric griddle after my third one (other brands) in 5 years broke on me. I hadn't been all that happy with the past ones (as the heat distribution was awful). I was "this" close to giving up on electric griddles entirely, but really liked that this Zojirushi griddle has an element that really covers the entire cooking area. So I figured it would be worth the higher cost. Turns out I was absolutely right - the griddle does have very good heat distribution (no more "musical chairs" with pancakes to keep them cooking evenly!) The griddle also has plenty of power - I haven't had to cook at a temperature beyond the pre-heat range yet (with other griddles, I sometimes doubted that they ever got up to temperature). You're supposed to pre-heat the griddle for 8 minutes, which makes a real difference to the heat distribution, as well - that's enough time to pre-heat while you mix up pancakes. I love that the griddle plate has high sides, which makes turning food much easier, and makes it possible to use the griddle for foods beyond pancakes. While the Zodoesn't have the grease drain like other electric griddles, you can make gravy or sauces while cooking your food. I also find I use less oil in this pan because it doesn't all drain away. The pieces are so easy to clean - everything comes apart, and you don't ever have to immerse the element part in water. The lid is is very useful for evenly cooking meat or thicker foods, as it traps the heat. Probably more energy efficient that way, too. The lid is a bit light - it would be very easy to bend it if you're not careful (don't put anything heavy on top of it) - and you have to be careful when lifting it because there's no central knob on top, and you have to lift from the ends. Make sure to lift the lid open AWAY from you to avoid getting steam in your face. (If I had any suggestions on product improvement, it would be to make the lid sturdier, add a handle on top for lifting, and put in a steam vent.) All told, I'm very happy with my Zojirushi griddle and would recommend it over any other griddle I've tried (and I've had at least 7-8 over the past 15 years).

Excellent Griddle but be aware replacement parts are difficult to get.
We absolutely loved this griddle. Far superior over the Teflon griddles we have had in the past. Nice even cooking. We have used the hell out of this griddle to the point where we are starting to notice some sticking. I understand you can get a replacement pan for these, however, in my searching, have found that all the replacement griddle pans are “sold out”. Not sure if that’s a ploy to buy a new unit, but not happy none are available and a new griddle has gone up quite a bit in cost since we bought ours. It is still useable but with sticking, it’s a bit tougher to clean. I would have given it 5 stars if not for this. It’s lasted 4 years.

Works well where you want a reasonably constant temperature
I got this to replace a heavy All-Clad aluminum griddle I used over two burners on our gas cooktop. Replaced the gas cooktop with an induction cooktop and that griddle no longer worked. I use it to bake English muffins and pancakes. The Zoji actually does a better job because you can set the temperature rather than continually fiddling the gas knob setting to get a constant temperature. I can place 8 English muffins or pancakes almost to the edge of the griddle and they still come out evenly browned all over, so I'm very satisfied with the heat distribution. The non-stick surface cleans up easily, and any spills outside it can be cleaned easily because the whole thing comes apart. I consider the value to be very good, since getting a new iron griddle from Staub was going to cost $300 and not work as well for what I wanted because of having to fiddle with the gas all the time. The griddle itself is quite light non-stick coated aluminum, so I don't know how well it would sear a steak because of the rapid drop in temperature when the steak hits it due to its lower thermal mass compared to a steak. Haven't tried it - that's what a real cooktop is for :-) Someone asked if the heater varied the input constantly to maintain the temperature. The answer is no, it cycles on and off based on where you've set the temperature, but the resulting heat distribution is still consistent and there is no surprise burning of the food. Still, it would be a great feature if it moderated the input current based on how close the temperature is to the desired setting.

Even cooking EASY CLEAN
I love this griddle! It cooks evenly - no more striped pancakes and sandwiches. Temperature is marked and easy to manage. Cooking surface is large - I can load it up to save time, another reason why even cooking temperature is so important. The cooking tray truly is non-stick and comes out of the electric base very easily for hassle-free washing in the sink. I was initially skeptical about purchasing this because I didn’t “know” the brand name, but after watching the video and reading about it I am glad I took the chance. BEST electric griddle I have ever used! ( in the last 3+ decades )
