If you have never heard of Soudal, then it is a name you need to know. They make some great products and this is one of them. Excellent quality. Low viscosity so it flows very easily, making it very easy to apply. I use masking tape. You just have to apply it sparingly so that there is as little as possible on the tape. Smooth it with your finger, also to make sure you have removed as much as you can from the tape. don't spend a lot of time messing. Taking very great care, immediately remove the tape. If you get it wrong, don't try to touch it up until it's dry. Wait 24 hours and go over it again or even remove it and try again. If you need tons to fill a gap then consider doing it in two or three "coats". Excellent stuff. Highly recommended.
