great grip
This grip is a jewel. There is the saying that "God created man but Col.Colt made them equal". Well here's my saying "Smith and Wesson made an impractical revolver but Hogue made it practical. I'm talking about S&W's model 340PD. This revolver weighs 12 ounces. I bought it to carry while jogging or riding a bike. I could hardly shoot this revolver because the recoil was so severe. In my hands this revolver was uncontrollable. After searching the net for a solution I came across the Hogue 60020 centennial grip. First I had to figure out what a centennial was. I thought S&W brought them out long ago and didn't realize people referred to the all smith's with a concealed hammer as centennials. Once I got that settled I realized I had 2 centennial models, a 940 J frame and the 340PD. I ordered the Hogue grip and received it with-in a week. Following the instructions and ignoring the instructions for the S&W body guard, which this grip also fits, I found that it slipped into place rather easily. The hardest part was getting the grip cap into place. That took a few minutes. When I completed the task what I had was a grip that I could still conceal but was a complete transformation from a shooting standpoint. There was padding at the web of the hand, finger grooves. light weight, and thin yet some how comfortable. I took the gun out to my back yard range and started putting some plus P 38 specials rounds through it. The recoil was controllable and repeat shots not difficult. Plus the knuckle on my trigger finger did not get banged around. Now I can carry my 340PD with confidence. I did try a couple light load 357 mags in the revolver and quickly decided their not for me in this type of revolver. I was very pleased with this Hogue grip. I must add a second comment. I immediately ordered a second set of grips to put on my 940 J frame revolver. As easy as the first set of grips went on my 340PD the second set of grips for the 940 were just the opposite. I had to struggle and struggle trying to get them in place. I don't know what the hang up was but I finally got them on. Perhaps the grip pin on the 940 was a little too long. Once in place the grips worked to perfection. I not yet courageous enough to take them off to see what the problem is. For now I have two wonderful grips on two revolvers I carry frequently. Only now I feel a lot more confident in carrying them thanks to the Hogue 60020 grip.

Great grip
I bought these for a Diamondback SDR 357. Manufacturing is a different fit from the one I bought over a decade ago. The Company rep agreed with me and advised to get the rubber grip vs the nylon grip. I did and it worked out. 5 stars for smooth return , hassle free

Perfect fit for Model 642-1 S&W 38 sp
Fits perfectly on my .38 Special Model 642-1. I used the original frame pin, so there was no need to replace it as the instructions suggested. I gave it 4 stars because the clip that secures the grip arrived rusted. Additionally, my first order came with the wrong grip, and my second order was delivered late. Overall, itโs still a great upgrade for my daily carry.

Great mod - much needed
Got it yesterday, installed it last night. INSTALLATION: Very straight forward. Read the directions before you start if you are not familiar with this type of work. This is a must for any who CCW's a S&W 642 Airweight (If you're unsure about this - it is the one for this pistol) This has given me the grip I was missing after all these years of having this as a CCW. I wear a medium/large (more toward medium) in most gloves and the stock grip of the 642 was a like a dang mule kick when I fired +P rounds. I've been shooting for a few years so I am accustomed to recoil - but anyone else who shoot this would say the stock grip hurt their hand.I will be at the range this weekend so I will update after, but I have handled this grip quite a few times since I installed it, so I hope it performs as well I i feel it should.Ok, now for the initial impression: FEEL (compared to stock) - definitely narrower, but with the additional length it feels more natural. I can now use all three fingers. This is a firm, rubber material that gives my palm some padding, while allowing my fingers to grip the gun without too much manipulation. CONCEALABILITY: Personally, I do not see an issue with the new 1 and 1/2 inch inches or so. Pocket holster (Uncle Mikes Size 4) continues to work. I wore this in my waist today for about an hour and it was unnoticeable. Felt more secure to be completely honest since the rubber and length hung onto my pants waistline better than stock. SIGHT PIC: My muscle memory will definitely be re-trained. I already noticed I need to cant up more at the wrist (from a standing point shoot position) and same from hip shooting position. Not a lot of change, but some nonetheless. I gave this a 5 right now since it arrived quickly and my initial impression of this is, absolutely yes! If anyone asked for my recommendation. Did I say I really liked this so far?

BAD DESIGN & poor instructions
OUT OF THE GATE: a friction fit design is just a bad idea for a defensive handgun grip (and probably any other use). Even if installation goes perfectly, the design is just not as secure as traditional grips that screw together to (or through) the frame. Installation: The instructions warn you that fit is exceptionally tight and to use plenty of force however, this is only because the supplied frame bolt gets hung up in the grip and literally tears the grip as force is applied. IT IS INFINITELY EASIER TO SIMPLY INSTALL THE NEW PIN AFTER SLIDING THE GRIP ON. However the grip cap is the real weak point. This is what is supposed to keep the grip in place and relies on the frame pin engaging holes in the frame. The new frame pin is threaded and the grip cap has to be spread open to get it over the pin ends. However using a .38 shell casing as the instructions suggested didnt spread the cap quite far enough so the threads of the pin scratch their way into the cap, removing material and leaving it permanently loose fitting. Last, tiny pieces of the grip get shaved off when you follow the instructions. Having them stuck inside an internal hammer gun like a 642 is a really bad idea. RETURNED.
