This wand making kit was bought as an activity at my 11 year old daughter’s Harry Potter themed birthday party. It was fun and well received by kids 1st grade to 6th grade. Honestly, me and dad were able to be hands off enough with it that we started making our own and had to much fun we actually finished ours. The wooden sticks are better quality then expected as is the light weight, model-magic-like but better clay, and the paint and the bottles the paint comes in. There is plenty of product to make the 12 wands. It was surprisingly easy enough for 6 and 7 year old to do it independently. Lots of ways to be creative. They didn’t take too much time to complete and everyone was happy with their result! Highly recommend for a kids project or an adult project! And the price is great for every thing you get.

This wand-making kit was such a hit at our party! It’s a fun, creative activity that kids can actually help with, and the results are absolutely adorable. The kit comes with everything you need to get started—including a nice selection of paints—and it’s easy to customize with extras like glitter or stick-on gems (which we added for a little extra magic). A few things to keep in mind: the “wand” is really just a basic wooden stick, so don’t expect anything ornate. But once the air-dry clay is molded around it and painted, it transforms into a magical creation that kids are so proud of. The clay does take several hours to dry, so we made up the wand shapes ahead of time and let the kids paint and decorate them during the party, which worked perfectly. While it’s not a high-end craft kit, for the price, it’s a fantastic value—easy to use, super fun, and great for a variety of ages. It would make an awesome party favor, classroom activity, or rainy-day project. Highly recommend for anyone looking to add a little hands-on magic to their celebration!

Huge hit at the party… I was planful and ensured adequate supervision and the kids loved it. The wands turned out looking so cool- even the non-artistic kids loved how theirs turned out! My own kids have gone back several times to make more with the leftover supplies. We’ve gotten so much mileage out of this kit- what a great value.

This kit was a lot of fun! It contains everything that is needed -- sticks, modeling-clay/modeling-foam, paint, and paint brushes. The image shows the wand that I made using the provided materials. I had some leftover foam/modeling-clay material, so I made the little snake with the leftovers. The pictures that come with the kit show finely detailed spirals on some of the wands, but when we tried to make details that small using the provided foam/modeling-clay material we couldn't get them to stay attached to the wooden sticks. The instructions show that hot glue can be used to create fine details (or even all of the details); I believe the smallest details in their sample images were probably made using the hot glue method rather than the foam/modeling-clay method. Obviously small children can't be given hot glue guns and a large group at a party cannot safely use hot glue guns all at the same time; so the foam/modeling-clay is the way to go. (Hot glue and hot glue guns are not provided in the kit.) The provided paint is acrylic; that's good because it gives nice colors and the paint brushes can be cleaned up with water -- but that could be bad because if it gets on clothes it has to be washed out immediately. So if if this was to be used at a party with little kids, having appropriate "art clothes" or smocks or something would be appropriate. We allowed the foam/modeling-clay on our wands (and my snake) to dry/cure overnight before painting; I do not know what the minimum time would be -- but one could not paint immediately after forming the shapes. I formed the foam/modeling-clay by hand and then used a paint brush handle to press details into the material. I applied the main layer of paint one day and then came back and added details and touch-ups on a second day (obviously that could not be done during a party). Wands covered in fresh paint cannot be transported; having a place for them to dry overnight is important. This deserves a lot of stars because it really is a full kit and really is a LOT of fun. I can't give it 5/5 stars because the kit gives the impression that the sample wand images on the packaging could be duplicated by a group of children during the duration of a child's birthday party without ruining anyone's clothes -- that's misleading. So long as people have a realistic understanding of what the materials can do, this is an amazing kit. At some point, I will buy this again.

These were AMAZING for my son's HP themed party. It was a wonderful activity for the kids and then doubles as the goodbye party favor! kids ages ranged 5 to 10 at the party and everyone loved doing this. 3 adults even had fun making wands. The 5-yr-olds did need some assistance, but still enjoyed working on their wands. We bought this kit and a similar kit that included hot glue instead of clay. Both kits were used and loved, but kids really enjoyed molding things with the clay. This clay is very light... Like marshmallows after it dries. I was worried when ordering thinking it would be too heavy like modeling clay but it was perfect. I think it's a great deal for what you get inside the box. If you do it at a kids party, do it as the first activity so that the clay and paint can dry by the time the party ends!

This was purchased as a birthday gift for one of my children's friends, as they are a huge Harry Potter fan and their birthday party was themed as such. Their mom told me later the whole family had an amazing time making their own wands and it was the perfect gift for their child (who turned 6) - and their siblings, both older and younger, also loved having the opportunity to share in the fun and make their own wands! So, kid-approved for sure!

These were perfect for the birthday party we hosted with kids age 5-9. The kids that wanted to take their time and add a lot of detail loved it and ended up with very creative beautiful wands. The kids that weren’t into crafting but wanted a wand threw it together and had a slightly less interesting wand, but a wand, none the less. The clay dried quickly and the paint did too, they could play with them by the end of the party.

So fun for a birthday party !!!! Did that for my daughter's 6th birthday and all the kids (and the parents!) Loved it ! The instructions says to use a glue gun but you really don't need to. The dough sticks very well and we painted right away . Very happy about my purchase !
