Being honest I have only played with the simple editing function for editing like the short tutorial linked below can do. I hope to get more experienced but just haven’t taken the time.

Can i get this product on a flash drive or through a download?  my pc doesn't have a dvd drive.

If you dig around, you can even find a manual, but to be perfectly honest they had a huge update and a lot of new features that may not be be well covered. Youtube is a wonderful place to learn about Opensource and free programs.  Many people make tutorial videos to give back to the community.  You can donate money or some time help things along as a way to say thanks for all the free stuff!  Notice the donate button, if next year you used this program tons, the developers might need coffee or pizza to keep it going.

Can you make pic collages? Can you make it color or black and white easily? Can you change pic size  to fit frames?.

Yes you can create collages, black and white images and adjust image sizes to suit, however, you will need to take the time to learn how to do all this which you can do with the comprehensive manual included on disc. There are also many free tutorials online for just about every task you would want to achieve.
