The Art of Hammer: Posters From the Archive of Hammer Films [Hearn, Marcus] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Art of Hammer: Posters From the Archive of Hammer Films Review: Another great Hammer product from Titan Books - Titan Books and Marcus Hearn have done it again. The team which produced "The Hammer Story" and "Hammer Glamour" have now come out with "The Art of Hammer", a fantastic collection of Hammer film posters. Over 300 posters representing the famous company's output are showcased. All the posters are in color, and some get a full-page picture. Posters from non-English speaking countries are included, and these are some of the most interesting and artistic in the book. Of course Hammer is know best for their Gothic horror films, but Hammer's non-horror productions are presented as well. As for the classic monster movies Hammer fans love, they're all here--the famous poster from "The Mummy", all the Frankensteins, the Draculas--any monster movie kid will go crazy seeing these images. While going through this book, one notices that some of the posters are more exciting than the films that they are advertising! But that was the whole reason for the posters in the first place. You don't have to be a Hammer or monster movie fan to appreciate the great collection of poster artwork here. But if you ARE a Hammer fan, you MUST get this book! Hopefully, Titan Books and Marcus Hearn have many more Hammer-themed books in store. Review: WOW! A beautifully designed book delivers the goods for lovers of film posters, classic horror and epic commerical design! - I received this book a year ago as a birthday gift from my beloved brother. I am a fan of HAMMER FILMS and I certainly enjoy the design of movie posters, as well as commercial products since the world war. This book offers a wonderful opportunity for film fans, horror lovers and fans of the Hammer Film Studio to go back and look extensively at their film poster designs. Page-after-page features very detailed photographs of all their feature film posters. This includes half-sheets, subway posters, one-sheets and window cards for everything from their biggest commercial hits (Dracula, Frankenstein) to their lesser known prehistoric, mad scientist and science fiction films. This is a solid book and a great reference tool for any film fan to have on their shelf. And since so many of these posters no longer exist or are too expensive to own, it's the next best thing to having them hanging in your den! EXCELLENT!

The art of Hammer, OK by me!!
When I was a kid in the 60's I had to walk past my neighborhood theatre (The Federation, Xenia Ave, Dayton Ohio), to get to school. Out front they would have one sheets and lobby cards for the films to be shown the comming weekend. Seeing these posters I fell in love with some of the art work and have spend a lot of money and time trying to get some of these great works of arts, so books like this are a must for me, and this is pretty good. I tend to like the American one sheets and half sheets more that the English quad, and was a bit disappointed there were not more of them, but it is a nice collection. A big thumbs up from this Hammer/movie poster fan.

Good book
This is a book of Hammer film movie posters . Does include a few alternate versions of posters including double bill and alternate billboard versions of posters. Not every post is shown the book would be double the length if it did. Al least two to three different versions for every hammer film is in the book. If your into movie art this worth picking up

A wonderfull visual guide to the wonderfull offerings of Hammer Studios.
In my humble opinion, Hammer Studios picked up the Horror film torch from American Horror/SciFi makers who spent most of the 50s doing the Giant Bug mutations as well as classics such as the Day The Earth STood Still and a couple more that I cant recall at the moment. Unfortunately American Horror was not what it used to be and this is where Hammer saved the day for all us Horror addicts with Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula. They were great atmospheric films not unlike the old Universal movies with maybe more buxom lasses and gore that the censors finally allowed to be filmed. And they gave us Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee who were very good friends and it showed in chemistry on scree. When you look thru this book you will be reminded and sometimes enlightened as too how many Hammer films you have seen and it brings back some great memories. This book is strictly for the fans of Hammer, they stepped in at the right time to bring us Horror films with a British flavor and the poster art will have you reminiscing with friends sharing memories, "I saw this one, didn't see that one, now I need to get a copy on DVD or BluRay". This is a collection you will want to have and pass it down. My daughter is a Hammer fan and in particular adores Christopher Lee and has appreciated his talent since I first showed her some of the more tamer Hammer films he starred in when she was a child. There is so much feeling, emotion, nostalgia and just a plain feel good moment as you look at the posters. Cant think of a better investment. Kudos and Cheers to Marcus Hearn. Thank you for this.

Hammer Art a Hit!
As a coffee table art book, this is a wonderfully produced title, with excellent lithography and overall design. As an accompanying piece of film history, showing the evolution of both Hammer's design sensibilities and the progressions in their films, it is both indispensable and a delight. (Yes, there are a few omissions of certain examples, titles and designs, but very few and far between. And you would have to one of only a very few Hammer mavens to even notice.)

Item arrived on time and as described. Book published by: Titan Books. Written by: Marcus Hearn. 200 pages. Content: Posters from the archive of Hammer films. Hardback book with dust cover. Book cover art front: Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell. Book cover art back: The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll. Dust cover art front: Dracula A.D. 1972 Dust cover art back: various Hammer movie posters. Has a 4 page written introduction chapter which is easy to read and informative. Thereafter, each chapter has a beautiful selection of Hammer movie posters, with a very brief overview of each poster - name, country, size, illustrator etc; on lovely clean white pages. The posters are incredibly bright and colourful - very much amazing works of art. Sadly, the 2010 - 2015 posters lose that amazing classic Hammer look, for the most part, which is a shame. It's part of what makes Hammer stand out from the rest. Chapters: Introduction. 1950 -1959. 1960 -1969. 1970 -1979. 2010 - 2015. Title Index. This book does not have any Hammer posters from 2016 onwards so is not completely up to date. Overall an amazing book which I can't recommend enough, if you are a Hammer fan or a movie fan in general. It looks amazing and is a great conversation starter when people visit your home and look through the book. Thank you.

Beautiful book. I'm huge fan of the hammer horror era. So getting to see most of the original posters in this book was great. This was good buy. Don't regret it if you are a horror fan
