Saved me a fortune vs. Wifi Bulbs! Very Small & Compact
Edit3: Installed 2 more alongside an RF switch so it switches via the RF and the internet. One of these installations is in Italy. It works perfectly. Testament to their reliability.Edit2: installed another INSIDE an outside security light (unhooked the pir lead) and it works perfectly. I’ve set it to turn on/off with the other sonoff which works well for me. BEdit after several months of use and this has been flawless. No server outages etc and it just works. The only issue has been the iPhone app occasionally logging me out but this takes seconds to fix. Definitely still recommended.——————-Great little device that is small and compact. I have used this in quite a specific scenario but one that may be useful for others. I work from home in an office at the end of the garden. The path to my office, naturally, becomes dark and dangerous - particularly in winter. When the path lights were installed the electrician installed them from the office fuse box and provided a remote control to operate them. This often wouldn't work due to the office fuse box (where the remote receiver was located) being (just) out of range. By installing the Sonoff I have been able to remove the remote/receiver altogether and operate the lights from my mobile phone. As the item is small I was able to install this inside the office fuse box in a matter of minutes. With regard to setup; on iOS I installed the EWelink app, registered for an account and ran the setup process. This failed. I then clicked the 'run in compatibility mode'. This involved pressing the button on the Sonoff, disconnecting my iPhone from my usual wifi and selecting the wifi network transmitted by the Sonoff, inserting the Sonoff's password (detailed in the app) and then entering my home wifi details into the app. It has worked flawlessly since. When sharing the device - so it can be operated by friends / family - that person has to install the EWlink app on their phone and register. I then shared my Sonoff with them to their registered email and it showed up in their EWelink app immediately.I will update this review if any of the rumoured server issues (re)occur but after a few days all seems well and I've had no outages.I wired my Sonoff to a desk lamp first to check all worked. The Sonoff can't handle Earth cabling so in my view is best suited to lighting circuits (although many appliances are supplied without an Earth these days). If I hadn't gone for the Sonoff I would have had to install wifi bulbs which would have been ten times the price!!!

Amazing value for money
Bought this for use with an LED light in a garden workshop. Fitted it inline with the LED power and works perfectly.Pros:- Quick and easy to setup with both the eWeLink app and Alexa- there’s a buttons on the device to trigger the relay if your internet goes downCons:- the terminal blocks on the device are a bit on the small side- there aren’t any screws supplied to fit the device but easy enough to use your own

A bit fiddly to get working but good price for WiFi switch
If you are installing this on thin lighting cable then it's fine, on slightly thicker cable, it's difficult to get into the cable grips. It's quite a small device and no connection for the earth. My lights needed to be earthed so had to run this separately to the device but not a big issue fir me. I did have some issues setting it up, note the mobile and device both have to be on 2.4g WiFi but once I managed this then it worked fine. The device is working well with Alexa, switch in lights as programmed. I am using to turn on outside lights, if which there are four all connected, so using a single switch with the sunset, sunrise setting was much more cost effective than separate smart bulbs. The price is certainly very competitive if you are looking for a basic WiFi switch. It uses the eWeLink app, which works well and can be used via the phone or added as a skill to Alexa. I would get another if I needed a basic WiFi switch.

Awesome for utdoor decorations
I could not fit a timer in the outdoor socket, or my waterproof box for my halloween/christmas lights, so I needed something low profile that can go inline and work as a timer, and would still squeeze into the outdoor box. These fit the bill perfectly as they are small, easy to wire, well built can be controlled via WiFi, or on a timer once setup in the app. What makes these truly awesome though.. is that they are Tasmota compatible, and once flashed you can link them to home assistant in order to automate them with your home automation system. So good I bought another 2 to allow me to control multiple channels of lights.Highly recommended, and I would buy these again in future, they feel well built and appear to be fairly safe, which not all these style devices are.

Easy to install and wifi connecting easy too.
Sonoff Basic R2 Easy to install and wifi connecting easy too using the eWeLink app. I connected these in around 10 minutes on my garden room LED downlights and it was so easy. This also included connecting to WiFi via the eWeLink. These work perfectly via Alexa too as you can see from my video. I have aso installed them on my external lights and set a schedule via Alexa. These have saved me a fortune on expensive downlights with connectivity or bulbs and I can highly recommend them. Great product and great value and quality.

Quite simply.... Don't bother.
The huge amount of grief this item caused is out of all proportion to its fairly compact size. I had a fully operational Google Home network around my house and wanted to add an additional light control to an existing spurred switch. The physical installation and network pairing was straightforward but then the problems started. After my first command to switch ON the spur - the Sonoff operated as advertised then dropped connection. I paired the switch again and commanded the switch to OFF. The Sonoff device operated as required and promptly lost connection again. Fast forward an hour and multiple re-connections followed by the same amount of drop-outs. The app for the Sonoff repeatedly demanded that I scan the QR code but stubbornly refused to read it. Finally, after running out of patience, I removed the Sonoff and returned the circuit to its original configuration.and the REAL fun started. Every subsequent command to my Minis either for for device operation or request for information was met correctly but was followed by a Google Home announcement that there was a problem and it couldn't do what it had in fact just done satisfactorily. This announcement was delivered whichever of the three Minis I addressed and regardless of what was asked for. Eventually I managed to remove the spurious fault announcement by a full factory reset of all 3 Google Home devices, uninstalling my Google Home app and re-installing my entire network. There is an evening I'll never get back! This item is being returned today, save yourself the effort and don't buy one!

Total control
So I wanted to control my porch lights with smart functions like Tapo but fixed wired and this device does all that.It wires between the L&N to the supply of the first light of 3 and your good to go.First I have it set to come on at sunset as this changes throughout the year a normal timer is no good, and I have it going off at midnight. Then I have it on a 6am going off at sunrise. So you can use your scenes ie sunrise/sunset with the addition of times. To do this the light switch is in the on position but not using the power(minimum). But it also means if you set it for last state on with power off you can use the light switch as normal on/off, however if you switch off it does take a minute to reconnect to the wifi. This is perfect for the none pir required control of my porch lights 😁🙏

Bought to control Christmas lights, had issues setting it up but works well now
Bought this to remotely control Christmas lights.Initially I had issues connecting to it as I didn't realise that it didn't work with the Smart Life app which I use for my other smart devices. Once I downloaded their eWeLink app, it connected straight away.I tried to set a scene in the app where the lights would come on at sunset but this didn't work and their helpline was not able to help either.I then set it up on a timer that comes on and off at set times and it's been working fine since.Overall a decent product for a good price but watch out for the compatability with other apps.

Good working
Product is good. The wire connection screw driver hole could have been avoided. Instead bottom covers can close including the same. As the slot is small very small screw 🪛 driver was purchased. Product working in 2.4Ghz only. Mobile hot spot also. The covers can be click type avoiding screws. Otherwise product is fantastic and worth. If kept inside switch box, hope hub is needed. If you have extended wifi, tune separately according to applicable wifi. Then extender must be treated as router. O&M manual must be still elaborate. As I'm an Engineer, I understood. But common people can't do it. No supplier number mentioned for clarification. In general, very very nice product. I ll buy many more. Great. No hub is required. Use 8 mm drilling x3 no for internet to go inside. Now this is working inside switch box with holes around 35 feet distance between router and switch. Great 💯/💯
