Nice garden tool
I got this primarily for digging and planting.,I have not had it long but have used it to break up soil, clean out weeds, incorporate new soil and fertilizer and plant in containers. It preformed very well. I like that it has a built in hand guard. You don’t have to worry about your hand slipping onto the blade. The blade is dished which allows you to scoop up some soil on it. The blade is also handy for opening potting soil. I have not used it in the ground yet but the serrated edge should come in handy with roots. It is full tang and built like a tank. I would think you would almost have to try to break it. It also has a nice sheath. I like it very much so far.

Great Quality and Price
My sister asked for this as a Christmas present since she’s really into gardening. I first tried to buy it off another site but found it cheapest here! I was surprised at how durable and great quality it is! The blade is a good thickness to hold up to a lot of use, and it’s very versatile in what you can use it for. The sheath makes it easy (and safer) to store in your garden bag, and the wooden handle gives it a comfortable fit in your hand, making it easy to use. I can see this being passed down through generations with how well it’s made. It’s a must have if you garden!

Serious workhorse!
I used this in the garden for digging, cutting, chopping and weeding. The blade is strong and stays sharp, the serrations are just aggressive enough to make for easy cutting through tough stalks, small roots & branches. I did scrub down and sharpen the smooth blade at the end of the season while putting a little wood soap on the handle before storing away. I can wait to get this back into the soil this Spring.

Almost great.
I use horihori's at work, for digging up invasive plants and taking plant samples. There are alot of really great aspects of this one. The blade feels durable and strong, as in if you break it, you're grossly misusing this tool. Secondly the handle is comfortable, the wood feels nice, and there are no worries of your hand sliding down the blade as you'll have with the traditional design. As an added bonus the endcap is durable enough to help drive in tent stakes, but it lacks the mechanical advantage of a tent stake hammer. If you get it with the sheath, which is bulky and unattractive compared to the tool but so far seems well made and appearances aside well designed. The four stars rating is for the finishing of this product. After my first hitch with it the handle has the appearance of a tool handle which has been neglected for a couple of years. Secondly, the finish is low quality, the components simply do not fit together as well as they should, especially at this price point. Barebones should either lower the price or properly finish this product.

Great value, holds up well.
Knife works great. I have been using it for a year now. It cuts well, digs well and does anything I need when I don’t want to run back to the barn to get a tool. Holds up well so far.

Barebones in name, NOT in Quality!
Right out of the box I noticed this was no ordinary Amazon product. The Barebones Hori Hori Ultimate - Walnut Handle, Tempered Steel Blade, Double-Edged Blade, Ambidextrous Use Garden Knife is extreme. The weight is very well balanced and sturdy. Although it’s thicker than some of the lighter Hori-Hori knives I’ve seen and owned, the weight isn’t tiresome and the edges are sharp. The 1” etched lines on the spade side are obvious. I really like the size of the handle, and how it helps balance the knife. It might be nice to have an etched handle option. Between this and some of the other options, I can’t say I’m disappointed with my choice. Time will tell how it holds up, but first impressions are I would recommend spending the few extra dollars on the Barebones Hori Hori Ultimate Garden Knife.

Metal Held, Wood failed
I was ready to give this 5 stars. Great grip, solid metal body and used in various garden setup. But the wood burst in my hand, thankfully gloved, after using the pommel base to pound in a camping stake. It splintered along the wood. This was too expensive to last less than a year of occasional use.

Après 1 an de loyaux service, la lame a brisé comme ça! Pouf! Il devait avoir un défaut dans l'acier... Je suis en deuil! 😭
