UPDATE: 12-10-23: Have now ordered 4, two going into granddaughter’s music boxes. OLD: Used in a home customized bamboo music/jewelry box for my wife of 58 years on Valentine’s Day. I actually purchased a second one in case I make another box.

Great for project I was doing. Very easy to install. I needed the main piece shorter so I cut it off to the length I needed using a small pair of wire cutters and now it’s perfect! Never knew something like this existed, great find.

This is the type of stopping mechanism that you typically think of when you think of a music box. When the bar is depressed, the music box movement will stop, and when left alone, it will begin to play. It works perfectly. This comes with a set of basic instructions for installation. Great for if you intend to insert a movement into a custom music box. You may need to cut the rod to size depending on how large of a box you choose, but I consider that a good thing because it gives you more options than if they gave you a small rod.

With some modifications I was able to get the vintage music box going again. Works perfectly where the drawer is opened and closed to turn on and off the music.

The item is promoted as simple single screw installation but I found the real world process of installation with a movement and an enclosure to be aggravating and frustrating. After hours of trial and error I still can not get the control arm to move freely and consistently. I sure wish they would include proper directions on not only mounting the control to the mechanism but how to mount and guide the actuator arm as well. So far it is just an exercise in frustration. On top of everything else it is quite fragile.
