RSVP Precision Pierced Stainless Steel 3-Quart Colander

I enjoy and appreciate any item that has been designed well and is quality in every aspect. This Rsvp-Precision Pierced 3 qt. Stainless Steel Colander is all of that and more. It’s also sold under many different brand names on line with slight modifications for each brand. The RSVP colander I received came with a laser etched ENDURANCE 18/8 on the rim of base. I suspect that the very well done laser etching on the rim of the base{ ENDURANCE 18/8 } refers to the quality of the Stainless Steel that was used. You simply will not find a better designed or quality stainless steel colander on this planet. The 3 qt. size fits our needs. The largest amounts it’s ever used for is two cups of boiled macaroni for tuna macaroni salad and that 2 cups of boiled macaroni totally fills the entire insides of the 3 qt. colander. The 5 qt. model is the very same price. So if you have a larger family than 4 you might want to consider the 5 qt. instead of the 3 qt size. They are identical in quality and design. As you will soon see when it arrives , cleaning this colander is super quick. It’s dishwasher safe but I personally recommend washing all your kitchen tools by hand in the sink. The two handles are solid and secure and just the correct shape and size. The base is a really stable design and has enough height that the backwash does come back into the colander when your straining cooked items with large amounts of fluids like pasta. The weight of this 3 qt. colander is very light at 300 grams or 10.7 oz. The inside diameter is 7.75 inches. The outside diameter including the two handles is 10.90 inches. The diameter of the base where it touches the counter is 5.5 inches and the base height is 1 inch. The inside height of the basket is 3.75 inches and the inside diameter at the base is 4.5 inches . The over all height of the colander including the base is 4.40 inches. The entire surface is completely smooth with no sharp edges or pics anywhere, and the top lip edge and the bottom base and its edge are also rounded and super smooth to the touch. I have previously owned several plastic and stainless steel mesh colanders and they were all very hard to clean. If you own a collapsable model colander you will be pleased to know it’s just a tragic accident waiting in the wings. Do yourself or some one you truly love a favour and throw it in the garbage right now. The memory and consequences of a severe burn lasts a lifetime. Two of the 7 other stainless steel colanders that I recently inspected and seen in person possibly deserved a maximum of 4 Star for performance, but unfortunately they both lacked in design and beauty and were larger and heavier as well as ugly. The Rsvp Precision Pierced colander in either 3 qt. or 5 qt. capacity is the only stainless steel colander you should ever consider and is the only stainless steel colander made to date that truly deserves a 5 Star rating. You will enjoy a “ Lifetime ” of use and service from this quality made “Korean” product. I recommend this product to all.

When space and cost are no object, you can own several tool for one job, and bigger might be better. This smaller colander does everything well, takes up less space, cleans like a dream. For me, it replaced both a larger big-hole colander and a woven fine-mesh strainer. Perforations are the perfect size, large enough that liquid drains through quickly and completely, and small enough to keep rice and even quinoa contained. Perfect size to rinse and drain a head of lettuce or to strain off a pot of pasta for 4, or to separate solids from broth after stewing a whole chicken. It's sturdy enough that I've used a rubber spatula to push boiled potatoes through the holes as a stand-in for a potato ricer. Very smooth surfaces, with very clean and smooth joins where the base and the rim and the handles meet the bowl mean this tool will do its job with no fuss. If you miss my fine mesh strainer, put a coffee filter inside this colander and it's a perfect substitute--just pour slowly. If you cook a huge batch of something, strain in two batches. Saves several cubic feet of cabinet space. Beautifully made tool that does the job!

It is nothing special or out of the ordinary, it is a strainer/collender and it does exactly what you would expect, without falling to bits, and it is easy to clean once you have done with it.

Originally got this to rinse rice and grains. Tried rinsing Jasmine rice in it. Most of the rice stayed in the colander but a small amount got through. So a little disappointed there but for anything larger it works very well. Material is study, it looks nice, water drains easily and it is a good size. Overall very satisfied.

This works great. Solid base. Easy to clean. Good quality construction. It should last me the rest of my life, no problem. lol.
