I already have a food processor - But bought this BECAUSE...
First let me say that I own a very nice food processor with a dicing feature. It is great. Then I saw this KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment, Food Processor with Commercial Dicing Kit demonstrated and knew right away that I needed one. I am a farmer and every spring, summer, and fall; I spend days processing the summer harvest for the pantry. It takes long hours to prep all of the vegetables and fruit for freezing, dehydrating, canning and freeze-drying, so anything that can shorten the time spent processing is a bonus in my kitchen. This attachment is a game changer. Because it is attached to the KitchenAid Stand Mixer, you can adjust the speed easier (from 1 - 10) than your standard food processor with only high, low and pulse settings. This way you can adapt your speed to the produce you are prepping. Next you can easily adjust the depth of the cuts with a handy slide knob. This slices from very thick to very thin in seconds. But last, but the very biggest benefit, is that you are NOT limited to the size of the food processor bowl to catch your food. No more cutting, stopping to disassemble the cutting bowl, dump the bowl and then reassembling the food processor to finish your cutting. Just place a large or even Extra-Large bowl under the Attachment discharge and cut away. I actually diced a full bushel of zucchini in 20 minutes using this method. And that included washing, cutting the zucchini into chunks that will fit the input tube, and running them through the dicing setup. It was so fast, I was amazed. Now before you think that I am looking at this attachment with rose colored glasses, I will tell you about one 'small' downside to this unit. That downside is that this makes small size dice cubes. These dice cubes are about 1/4 size smaller than my standard food processor makes. I would like to see KitchenAid offer an additional dicing blade with larger size dice cubes. That is my wish - You hear me KitchenAid? Anyway - cleanup is a breeze as the parts, except for the base, is all machine washable. I can't do that with my free-standing food processor either. All parts of that are hand washable. This is a great attachment to have. I am extremely happy with this purchase. Will I give up my other food processor? Nope. See the note on the size of the dicing cubes. Plus, this does not chop like a standard food processor, and it does not make pie crust either. But this works better on the other slicing, shredding and dicing. There is room in my kitchen for both.

I Was Prepared to Hate This . . .
I had an opportunity to purchase the KitchenAid Food Processor Attachment using some rebates that I'd gotten from an earlier KitchenAid promotion and when i saw a sale for this i decided to give it a try. I'd been looking at it for some time because it was the only item on the market that would dice and not just slice items like my Cuisinart. I'd been looking at the various videos that KitchenAid had on-line as well as independent reviewers and had seen some really impressive results and listened to some very negative comments. It appeared that individuals that bought or reviewed the attachment either found it very helpful or totally hated it. Being an engineer i was curious to see the construction and worried about the mechanism's quality. So when i received the attachment I had to run it through some tests. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the attachment was. It's not a lightweight piece of equipment! So my first concern was about the stress the weight would place on the mixer. I'm still worried about that after several hours of use. Like any of the KitchenAid attachments it's a little noisy when running and there is some vibration. I attribute that to the causing what some reviewers said about the attachment 'falling off' the mixer. I don't believe that's an issue if one keeps in mind that vibration in any piece of equipment tends to loosen fasteners over time, particuarly friction secured fasteners like KitchenAid uses to hold their attachments to the mixers. My advice? Check the fastener for any sign of loosening if you're going to use it for a lengthy period of time. So on to the tests. First was a twenty pound bag of russet potatoes, peeled and sliced to fit the hopper. I found varying advice on the speed setting. What i discovered was that in general the harder the item to be sliced and diced the faster you want to set the speed. Potatoes took about a seven to eight setting while larger carrots I set to ten. Apples worked fine at lower settings. Tomatoes (I used Roma) worked well and seemed to do better at a medium speed. That surprised me at first, I was expecting them to do better at a lower speed because of their firmness, but I think it's because of the skin. I did not try any skinless tomatoes - that might be a test for another time. Cucumbers were best at a low setting (Note: I peeled the cucumbers in my testing and the softer they were the worse the results - English cucumbers worked the best for dicing). Another thing that I found interesting was that i got the best results when dicing if I DID NOT use the pusher to force the vegetables into the hopper - letting their own weight and the angled blade pull them in worked just fine. A big WARNING - don't try to use the attachment to dice meat - that was a disaster! I have not tried cheese yet and if (when) I do I'll add to this review. So the dicing aspects of the attachment worked better than i anticipated. Since that was my primary reason for purchasing it I was very happy. I moved on to the slicing blades and was interested to note the adjustable thickness setting on the slicing blade (KitchenAid calls it their ExactSlice System). That's an interesting touch and i wonder how long that's going to last. Endurance is just as important to me as functionality since I tend to keep my technology until it expires! I would have preferred a metal mechanism, but that would have necessitated a price increase that probably would have made the overall cost a nonstarter. It worked fine as did the shredding and julienne discs. I typically prefer my Cuisinart for those functions (so many more blades and options) but if I'm going to do dicing as well as slicing and julienne cuts the KitchenAid is my tool of choice. Next was cleanup. How labor intensive was that going to be? I found that cleanup was actually easier than for my Cuisinart. I should note that i clean my tools immediately after use, no matter which brand or device. I've learned my lesson from letting debris dry in hard-to-reach places! The KitchenAid came apart as easily as it went together. Most of the pieces came clean in just a spray of warm water and a quick dip into a soapy bath and rinse. A nice scrub brush gets almost anything off easily and KitchenAid has thoughtfully provided a small tool for clearing any food stuck in the dicing grid so you don't end up with bloody fingers. I also like that there is an insert that lifts out to protect the mechanism from any food particles or fluids that go around with the blades. That was a feature I hadn't really considered important until it came to cleanup - then that made things a breeze. The included storage case is nice, but I have two concerns. The first one is a little picky, but I had a difficult time in getting the blades back into the case so it would close properly. Turns out that the adjustable thickness slicing has to be in placed into the storage case with what I'll call the plastic sweeping tab rotated so it's located to the right of the case or it interferes with the closure. A picky concern, true, but I was beginning to think I'd lost my mind when the case wouldn't close the first time. Second, the location of the hinge for the case means that in the open position it does not rest on the surface, but is slightly elevated. I've seen the same design on other cases and the failure mechanism is when left in that position for too long or if there's an impact it damages the hinges. A very small design change would have alleviated the possibility with zero additional cost in either materials or fabrication. Overall I think this one's a winner! Concerns? Well, like all bladed kitchen tools how sharp they are tends to make a huge difference. I am concerned about how well the dicing grid retains its edge since there's really no way to resharpen it. I didn't look into the cost of replacement, but i suspect it's not cheap! The other blades? Well, they seem to be the same quality as the Cuisinart's, and I've used those blades for at least ten years without issue.

Great Product!!
WOW WOW WOW!!!! I donโt leave reviews unless it is something that really makes my day and this fits the bill.. I have 10lbs of carrots that need to be diced and after peeling and cutting off the ends it took less than 1 minute to dice up 10lbs of carrots ๐คฏ. I havenโt used the other Kitchen aide blades yet but Iโm looking forward to it. It is easy to clean and it has a nice storage box to store them. It was easy to assemble and attach to my mixer.

Works great, a worthwhile addition to my food preparation equipment
For the most part, the KitchenAid KSM2FPA Food Processor attachment works exactly as claimed. It's easy to assemble, very easy to use, and works extremely well if you follow the instructions for setting the speed on your mixer according to the item you're processing. I bought this specifically for the dicing capability, and I'm happy to report that it worked perfectly for the vegetables I tried it with. I have a large KitchenAid Food Processor, but it doesn't dice and it doesn't have the ability to set the thickness of slices. This product is VERY easy to clean, by the way... only the top, slicing attachments, and the internal "food chute" require washing. The body of the unit is protected from exposure to food products. My biggest complaint about the unit is the size of the food inlet. For this attachment, it's even smaller than that on the normal food processor. This means that most everything you use it for must be cut down small enough to fit in the feed tube. Carrots, small cucumbers, and such are not a problem, but cabbage, apples, potatoes all must be trimmed to fit. While I guess that's not a huge issue, it does add more time into the process. Also, I found that while the dicing function worked exactly as it should, there's no ability to set the size of the diced output. In this case, it's a bit small for what I had in mind... too small for use in potato salad, for example. As a major "foodie," I will definitely use the product moving forward to augment those tools I currently have, but I can see why some users might be disappointed.

Great attachment! (If you can get it on sale)
I've been using this food processor for a couple of weeks now, maybe 2-4 times a week, and I am very happy with the product. The slicing attachments work well, although even the thickest setting does not really slice very thick. The grating discs work almost as good as the grating attachment, but this is a bit easier to clean. I really like the storage case that all of the discs come packaged in, but there is one disc that need to be in the perfect position in order for the lid to close, which is really irritating. The processor itself seems to be really well designed and built, and is very easy to clean since it uses a plastic liner that protects the attachment itself from touching any of the food. Overall, I would recommend buying this only if you find it on sale. I do not think it is really worth 250$, when most of the functions can be performed in a similar fashion with other mixer attachments. for 150$ though, I think it is a great addition to our kitchen.

Carrots,carrots,carrots
I hate dicing veggies, but if you are into making soups it's a given. Saw this item while looking at dicers, it is by far the cheapest of the motorized dicers by far. Most are in the 500 dollar range so I took a chance knowing Amazon had my back (so not really taking a chance). This has a very heavy slicing blade for the dicing function that acts as a lever to drive what ever you are dicing down into the cutting grid. I was sceptical but it eats carrots like there is no tomorrow. It makes on average a 5/16 dice or so. A lot of it is 1/4 some a bit closer to 3/8 dice. I guess it depends on how the veggie hits the blades. I dropped a carrot in the tube and it self fed and diced very quickly. On average I dice 5 pounds each of carrots, celery, and onions (mirepoix). This is so much faster and easier, I diced 5 pounds of carrots as fast as I could feed the machine call it 2 minutes. Celery and onions were also a breeze. The only negative is because of how the blade grid is constructed fine particles of onion and celery got stuck between the blade joints. It took me about 10 minutes of picking at it with a pick and a small bottle brush to get it clean but this is so much faster and easier than a knife that I don't mind. Just a heads up to take a close look at the blade grid to see if it's clean.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this item and in #kitchenaid as a company. I purchased this product from Amazon. I was very excited to purchase this attachment. I've had my stand mixer for about two years now and I have a few other attachments for it. I've never had a problem with any of the other attachments or with my stand mixer. After purchasing the food processor attachment I was excited to get it out of the box, read the instructions, and get started using it. I did all of that. When I used the attachment I started dicing cucumbers and celery first. I then moved on to dicing onions. When I did this the entire stand mixer started to vibrate and before I could stop it it flipped over sideways on my counter and started slamming into my kitchen counter. In the process of trying to stop it I hurt my hand and my neck. I had to unplug it from the wall to get it to stop. After it stopped my husband took it apart and there were all metal shavings coming out of the hub where you attach the processor to the stand mixer. Now I'm not sure that my other attachments will work properly in the stand mixer since that part has been damaged. Also with the continual slamming of the stand mixer onto my kitchen counter the motor may not work as well either. Amazon has been wonderful as far as returning the product when I'm ready. However kitchenaid is giving me a problem. I called KitchenAid and explained the entire problem to them. All that they offered was a 25% discount to me for a new stand mixer to be purchased with my money or they could send a service person out and if the person had to fix my stand mixer I would be responsible for the cost since my stand mixer was no longer under warranty. I explained to them that my stand mixer had been perfectly fine prior to putting this brand-new attachment on it that is still under warrantee itself. But the attachment is what damaged my stand mixer. Therefore this is not my fault and the entire thing should be covered under warranty. So in conclusion I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase this attachment because it does not work properly and you are in jeopardy of damaging your stand mixer and possibly costing yourself a lot more money because you may have to purchase a new stand mixer if it damages yours like it did mine. I am extremely disappointed in KitchenAid because they obviously do not stand behind their products. I will not be purchasing any more kitchen aid products in the future. I can not continue to support a company that does not stand behind their products and does not stand on the side of their customer.

Perfect dicesโฆsuper fast!
My husband and I are so happy we purchased this, yet another Kitchen Aud attachment. It is call the Food Processor I think, but we call it the dicer! We have diced 24 lbs of onions, diced, sliced and shredded 20 lbs of carrots, then blanched, three boxes of mushrooms, 12 green bell peppers, 12 yellow, orange, & red bell peppers, a package of Jalapeรฑos, 2 big bunches of celery and put them in the freeze dryer. We have a small amount of sweet potatoes, and 24 pounds of Yukon, Gold, potatoes, to dice, shred and blanch for the freeze dryer waiting in queue. This dicer and slicer elements go so fast that my husband hardly had time to grab the pusher. Honestly, just drop the veggie in and the machine gobbles it up, then spits out the perfect dice or slice. The shredder is nice too but I actually have other items that do a nice job of shredding, but it certainly isnโt disappointing, i is just that I have access to other methods of shredding.

Makes slicing easy!
Has a few flaws; there should be some kind of plastic liner to avoid getting juices inside the mechanism, even with the base plastic insert juices still get around the edges and make cleaning more of a pain than it should be, the opening is a little small so you still have to cut things and there's no reason for it to be $200+ imo... But I'm willing to overlook that with how simple slicing and dicing is now, an absolute must if you own a stand mixer and hate chopping veggies into tiny bits!

Solid, well-designed and worth the price
This attachment feels extremely solid and well made. I was initially hesitant about the price, but after seeing and using it, I think the quality justifies it. The storage case for the discs and accessories is also excellent. The 8 mm dicing kit produces beautiful, even cubes. The shredding disc also gives good, even results, although with my rather firm zucchini I needed to use the highest speed and apply some pressure with the food pusher. Overall, I am very pleased with it. It feels like a serious, durable piece of kitchen equipment and is an excellent addition to my KitchenAid Artisan.

Fantastic!
Recently ordered and started using this and have to say it's amazing! It works as advertised and I'm glad to say - as long as it works I'll never again have to cry on the account of chopping onions by hand! I found that, when using the dicing blade for tomatoes, a bit of liquid and seeds do get stuck in the central part of the housing (just under the pylon where the blades attach) but also found this was easily avoided by placing a little piece of paper towel around it and extracting it right away. Glad I chose the dicing blade version, it's worth the extra money :)
