if I put it on the wall, it will damage the wall once removed?

The stick is very strong and you would struggle to remove it. It would take off any paint or wall paper, you would probably need to use a scrapper. If you are using to hang something up, I would look at the Command strips, there is a large variety and they do not damage the wall when removed.
