I've been a homeowner for five years and had done small jobs myself, but I wanted to learn more and grow my confidence. I've now overhauled several circuits in my old home (goodbye, knob and tube), and just today passed a state inspection for a completely new outbuilding my wife and I added to our property and wired from scratch (including both a load center and new service entrance). The explanations are clear and the illustrations are perfect, especially when you're actually performing the work. Even my inspector, who saw the book during his walkthrough, stopped and said, "That's a good book."

I gave this to my son for his home wiring projects. I worked 30 years as an electronic technician and specialized in power distribution and HVAC systems. So I ordered this book and was please to see the detailed glossy pictures. The material is presented in a thorough manner and based on my experience, accurate. At a glance, the information meets code. Still, beginners should not attempt electrical projects without the advice and oversight of a professional.

Easy to understand guide on wiring up common projects. Helps you understand the basics and the techniques for your own projects. If you're looking for tips on wiring up a smart home, look elsewhere - the chapter on this is about a decade or so out of date.

Very impressed with the book, have done electrical work for nearly 40 years. Brushing up my skills for an upcoming project. This is an awesome book and I highly recommend it and that why I gave it FIVE stars. My only complaint was how it was shipped. It was rammed down in the bubble wrap and the top cover and several pages were bent very badly. I attempted to straighten them as much as possible, but this will be an eyesore every time I read it. Due only to the shipping side, I give it one star.

I’ve only used this once (building an apartment). But I got to a point where I didn’t have the foggiest. I pulled out this book and looked at it for a few minutes. With the colored pictures and overall view I understood what I needed to do in less than a minute. Great guide, especially for the DIY

I didn’t want to pay an electrician to wire my garage up with multiple 120 and 240 volt outlets, so I purchased this book hoping it would give me the confidence to do the work myself. Electrical work has always been something I’m frankly terrified of, however, after studying this book I passed both my rough in and final inspection with zero issues. I learned a lot, took the fear out of electrical work and saved money. You won’t regret buying this.

This book has been a great benefit understanding the wiring of my home. Before any home project I read and comprehend how to handle a task.

Great book. Slightly outdated, but fundamentals all there. I found the ordering of the chapters odd. If you are new to electrical work, I would suggest reading through the last couple of chapters first. Lots of great pics for reference.

This book may have some interesting electrical information but non of the illustrations I saw were for British electrics. These books should state which country they are designed for. Each country has its own electrical equipment and regulations. I will be returning it.
