Nice little drive enclosure. Easy open and the drive just slips in. Good to keep on hand even if you don't have an immediate need for it. Eventually you'll need to replace or upgrade a drive and you can use this to recover your data.

Worked great for converting the hard drive from my old laptop (now Toast) into a portable hard drive I can use to store & transfer files. It also allowed me to recover some files that I wanted after one of my laptops was damaged. I'm thinking about getting a second one for another hard drive I salvaged from an old laptop. It's quick & easy to change out the HDD, I don't like frequently handling a unprotected Hard Drive.

If you are like me then when it comes to replacing old computers I love being able to keep my external hard drives when I recycle the computer. This case takes it a step further and turns your external drive into an external drive. For me, it was a little nerve-racking when inserting my drive into the housing shell, took a little bit of pressure (more than I would have liked), but it works great. Love having another SSD drive I can take with me.

The media could not be loaded. A cheap one, but decent, would recommend.Recommended by one of my friend! I buy this because I have a 2.5” drive and don’t want it to gather dust. Two days fast delivery, tool free design, no screws at all, only ten seconds I used to install it, I like it! Very handy if you have to read a lot of drives, erasing, reformatting and laying down an OS. Cable included, a very small blue light, and USB 3.0 interface. The inside foam pad resists shocks. This one really beyond my expectation as such a cheap price. This one isn’t fancy, very easy and instant use, no on-off button, but a decent solution to meet your need! Would recommend!

My laptop recently died. I pulled the hard drive and ordered this product. I couple days later it arrived, and I was able to get to all my old files no problem. As an added bonus, for $8 (plus the cost of a new laptop, but I'm gonna be paying that anyway), I now have a new external hard drive.The hard drive fits in the enclosure firmly, and transfer files to and from the mounted drive is just as fast as moving them around on internal one.My one complaint is that the mounting doesn't slide out of the case so seating a disk can be a bit of a pain. It took me a couple of tries to get the drive properly mounted. That said, it's a pretty minor issue, and not enough for me to ding it a star.I'm quite pleased with it overall.

Updated review: I've upgraded my review because the Salcar customer service team is excellent. Their rep's, especially Yuna, was very proactive and worked with me through every step. Unfortunately, I was unable to test another enclosure because they were out of stock. because of their great customer service team I won't hesitate to try Salcar products in the future.Original review: It is a bit tricky (annoyingly so) to open. When I inserted an SSD and plugged it into a USB port, Windows failed to recognize it. Also, the LED failed to light. Thinking I might not have inserted the SSD firmly into the enclosure I re-opened it (again annoyingly tricky. I noted upon opening the enclosure WITH a drive inserted that it would not be difficult to break something. Ergo, this is not an enclosure for someone who wants to swap drives with any frequency.Now assured that the drive is properly seated in the enclosure I reattach to a USB 3.0 port. Again, no LED. While I'm considering next steps Windows recognized the drive. I can read/write to the drive with no issues although the transfer rates are slower than expected. I run some diagnostics but I've already decided to return it so the tests weren't exhaustive. However, I concluded that the delay between establishing the physical USB connection and Windows recognizing the drive was due to significant number of ATA errors at start-up. Since this is less than $10 item and they aren't paying me to troubleshoot their product, I'm finished.

This worked great to transfer files from my old HDD drive to the new SDD drive in my laptop. The HDD drive was a little too thick (Be SURE to measure how thick your drive is!), but the plastic cover easily popped off, so I was able to plug in my 2.5 inch HDD and use this as a USB drive without the cover. The transfer rate was excellent, and I was able to transfer gigabytes of files quickly.

Works as intended so far. I use it to house a 700GB HDD I removed from my 2009 laptop. The hard drive now stores my Steam library for my Macbook Pro, and I haven't had any problems with it yet.It doesn't add too much bulk to the hard drive. It's about the size of an iPhone 6S, just thicker. It also comes with a cable and it really is a tool-less installation. You just flip the lid, insert your hard drive, close the lid, lock the switch on the front, and you're done.Transfer rate is great, though I don't have numbers to show. It's much faster than when I had the library stored in a SD card (which I'll never do again) or on a USB stick though.At $7.99, it's really a steal, and I ended up purchasing two solely because of the price. The local big box electronic store here (I won't name any names) thinks $20 for one of these enclosures is a best buy. I wish it were more stylish though.
