Will this work on a celestron 8" edge hd?

It should but measure first. I use it on a Meade SCT-8, an older scope. Opening is ~1/16th more than 4 inches, and OD of the mask is 8 &7/8th inches. Hope that helps.

I have not used it in a long time, but I believe it is a heavy plastic or similar material.

Will this work with an original orange tube early 80's celestron c8?

This Bahtinov mask model FP410 will fit pre-2008 Celestron C8 telescopes, so it will fit yours. Post 2008 C8's require the FP410H. Farpoint
