This is a really good book that avoids the trap of being too kitch or twee.
This book is brimming with ideas of novel things to embroider. Some are incredibly simple, such as a milk jug, while others are more complex, such as a chicken in a hot air balloon. The designs are from different artists but work together and are accompanied by instructions on how to complete the different stitches, which are clear and easy to follow. There are also ideas for how to decorate clothes and other items with the embroidery. My only criticism is that the template and instructions for completing each project are separate from the picture of the completed item. To fully make sense of the stitch instructions, I know I will have to keep alternating between the template and the photograph. Nonetheless this is a really good book that avoids the trap of being too kitch or twee.

Although I have been sewing for over 40 years, this is a wonderful ideas prompt or great for quick basics

Helpful, cute and good for beginners!
Thank you to Netgalley for a review copy! I started embroiding only a couple of months ago, so definitely a rank beginner, but this was quite easy to follow. It lists colour pictures of the finished designs in the first section, followed by some pages on each of the stitching styles and some 'inspiration' pages on where you might like to use them. Then the last section is black and white images of the same designs in the first section, with information about which stitches and how many threads, and what DMC colours are needed. Only thing missing I think is an instruction of what order to stitch the design, as some are complex and its hard to think where to start. All round, a very good guide, some really cute designs from a collection of artists and theres some I definitely want to try.

Book if very small pictures. Rubbish
This book is rubbish. Pictures of tiny drawings of everyday objects of flowers and animals that even my grand daughter could draw. There was very little patterns showing how to do the stitches and very little illustrations of them. Not what I wanted to teach my grand daughter who is 8 and a half and can do the basics stitches and cross stitches. This book is for adults and maybe older teens. I want my cash back. I can only give 1 star .
