It works well
Such a pain that many new laptops don't come with a CD drive but this solves that problem for pennies on the dollars. Read function is fast; write is a little slower. Would recommend.

Very easy to use DVD drive
This DVD drive works very well. It was easy to hook up and it worked with no trouble.

Great but makes odd sound
Works well, easy to use, portable. Points taken off because the connector due to how loud it is. The player periodically sounds like a small vacuum when reading.

Just check compatibility for your device but it works nicely
It’s not bad. The cord is VERY short. I might get one with a cord JUST a bit longer if I were to buy another. ALSO- READ device compatibility lol (this was my own fault) I bought this specifically for a Chromebook and later looked back and they specifically state that it is NOT compatible with Chromebook lol i will still use it for other devices.

We Old People Love Our Physical Media!
Know what I really miss? Remember that slot in your computer that you stick a CD or DVD into? I REALLY miss that! But, here's the next best thing. I'm now retired, but I still enjoy watching instructional videos relating to the biz I was in. A lot of it can now be downloaded. But, that means paying twice for one video. I Want My DVD! Here's the solution. This thing is very easy to attach to your computer. If an old guy like me can do it, you can, too. It plays both CDs and DVDs. Sorry, no Blu-Ray. Maybe someday. But it's primarily movies that were put on that format. I'd rather watch those on my seriously big TV. Standard DVDs work perfectly. In my experience, DVD-R works, as well, but I'm not sure that's a universal thing. And if you have favorite CDs you want to play while you work, you're in luck with this, also. This is an inexpensive solution to a problem that many of us have. I love it when things work the way they are supposed to!

Cost & Work Efficient
Sturdy and nice build, doesn't feel cheap very cost efficient. Work with cd DVD not BluRay off course. it's good buy From All of the choices I got. so, no need to go for costlier ones.

Speedy little Device
Great quality for the price, it is small and compact therefore doesn’t take up a lot of space, it reads CDs really quickly, so it’s speedy in that department, I also had no trouble with connecting it to my PC. I would recommend as the price point is fair and you never know when you need it as most new models don’t come with built in CD/DVD readers anymore. If

Waste
I didnot like it and it's not connecting or working to pc or laptop or desktop anything and I have throught cd is a problem but no this dvd external is the problem don't buy and waste you money for sure

Optical Drive on Amazon
💕 love: 1: External detachable USB 3 Optical Drive in 2025, making it possible to access archives and other resources, as old as 20 years back! ( Make sure you don't expose your old CDs, DVDs and drives to sunlight, excess moisture, UVs, temperature fluctuations and preferably keep them vertical so that the dyes don't get altered. This Optical Drive needs labelling, has no branding "Laurensory nowhere mentioned on packaging or drive labels". The drive vibrates and is noisier than internal noiseless drives at similar price points probably because it's read write speeds are fast around 24x. Overall, I'd need to check durability and energy costs, but first impressions are good! Especially for those who have optical data that modern laptops can't read, but this stowable drive bridges that gap.
