Ignik FireCan Portable Propane Fire Pit with Hose and Adjustable Regulator

Took it Overlanding in Eastern Sierras for 5 days in October 10k feet, 25-75 deg F. Used it last 2 nights, and 2 mornings, almost used up 5lb propane. Super well built, quick easy to use, lite, unpacks and packs up great, decent heat, no smoke. I added the 5.5 lb of Ignik lava rocks nice (no dust mess bouncing around in rig) and some more from my outland (messy), it definitely radiated more heat than it did without rocks. My friends used one on the rubicon last month without rocks, no good for them, all the heat goes straight up. Big Red Campfire is best if you need more heat, Outland fire bowl is between the 2. Took longer to cool off with lava rocks, like 20 min +- so need to shut it down before loading up and rolling out. So 38k btu, 1-2 people, 25-35 deg, 7-9am, 10k feet alt, 2 nights, 5lb tank, solid option. Might want a 10 lb tank for more than 2 nights, but love the flame king 5lb with built in gauge. OK not a ton of heat, but we had group fire pits for the evenings, with 10 rigs, 15 people 2 dogs. We tried 3 guys standing around the Fire Can with full layers can feel the heat but not really gonna keep you warm , just nice effect. Tried 2 people in full layers sitting on either side, chair and lounge chair, with decaf and hot chocolate, great atmosphere and a enough warmth to take the edge off. Really, really nice, then we walked over to the big group fire for the evening. LOL Mornings 7-9 am getting food etc out of bear boxes, making coffee, cooking breakfast, breaking down camp, with no gloves on, at 10k altitude 30 deg, I needed to take a few breaks between tasks. Sitting in front of Fire Can with feet on either side warming my hands back up, sipping hot coffee was absolute perfection. For those morning alone I think this thing is absolutely worth every penny for me. Love it. I'll probably even still use it this winter for snow camp next to my tent for the mornings at 10 deg +-. Seems great for quick solo runs and during southwest fire bans. Perfect for easy summer nights, maybe fall and spring, but not a replacement for a good winter campfire. That's my two cents plus. TLDR: Great for what it is; Compact; Wood Fire is better; I'd buy it again I was comparing this to some 19" typical round gas fire pits. I've used friend's ones in the past, and honestly I am not a big fan of gas fire pits in general. They do not generate enough heat for group use. Here's my feelings on the Ignik firecan. It produces an even flame in the can, it's great for 3-4 people sitting around it to talk by fire light. If you're looking for HEAT, you will need to be pretty close. More equipped for two people sitting close by. The nice part is the lid can double as a stand and go on top of a table top to provide you some more direct heat. I purchased some fire lava rock to place in there, that helps it to retain and emit heat a bit better than without it. After packing this into my car for a trip, I considered what a 19" gas stove would be like packing and felt like I made the right choice with purchasing this. It takes up only a little bit of room, it isn't an odd shape that takes up more space than necessary. The connector it comes with fits a standard propane tank no problem. I will elect for a wood fire all day over this, but when that does not permit (fire/burn restrictions); this is a great alternative that is easy to bring with you.

What a fun rectangular fire pit ~ place ~ for backyard & camping! The cute companion small tank is charming along side of it and travel bag holds the hose & regulator.... I got the 2-3" stones.. maybe the smaller ones might work better.

Metal warped slightly but lid still works and overall great product use it on my camping trips.

This portable heater has been a good option for outdoor use. The structure feels sturdy, and the legs provide a stable base. The hose connection is simple, and operating it is straightforward. Its compact design makes it easy to transport and store without taking up much space. After several uses, it has performed consistently and without issues. Overall, it has been helpful for providing heat during outdoor activities.

I'm writing this review since I actually couldn't find very many reviews on actual use while camping. The 'vine' reviews where someone just puts it on their porch or in their backyard and turns it on aren't super helpful. I recommend Youtube, I found a few there. All that being said, I only have used it on one trip so far. I'll update if anything new comes up. The Firecan definitely isn't for every camping scenario. If it's 30 degrees outside and this is your heating centerpiece for a 2 night camping trip with 10 people.. probably not going to work so well. It's small and you have to stay close to it for it to work. 2-4 people is best. I got it because, like so many others, I wanted something for summer camping (1-3 nights) when campfire bans go into effect. S'mores, a little warmth, and above all ambiance. For that, it is amazing and has exceeded my expectations, especially in duration on a single tank. Note that I'm using the Ignik growler for a propane tank and that has been great as well. Here is the breakdown: **Overall Value** 5/5 I was very much on the fence about spending $200 on this thing. But it's definitely one of my top buys of the year. I'm super happy with it and I think you will be too. I hope more competitors start making similar products, though I really have no significant complaints with the Firecan. **Heat output** 4/5 One of the reviews said "slightly better than lighting a book of matches on fire". Obviously that's not accurate. Maybe they weren't using a diffuser? I actually didn't even try it without one, but with lava rocks or similar it's solid. We only needed to put it at medium capacity (the regulator turned halfway to high) to stay comfortable. That being said, it was probably 50-55 degrees outside (PNW mountains in summer), but we also were wearing light summer clothes. I took off a single point just because.. this is the only area where it feels like it could be slightly improved. Other reviewers complained about the lack of a diffuser coming with the Firecan but honestly I'm glad I got to choose mine, since it kind of depends on what you want to use it for. If I was going to use this around my backyard I probably would have got the ceramic logs for looks. But for camping I recommend lava rocks so that you can fit the hose in when it's packed. Diffusers are cheap on Amazon and even cheaper in-store. **Duration** 5/5 I am especially happy with the duration you get with the Ignik growler (1.2 gallons of propane). I was worried because I saw it said you get 2.5 hours on the highest setting, and I thought I was going to have to keep it on high in order to get any usable heat out of it. But since we kept it on medium (see photo), we had it on for at least 4 hours and there is still gas left. For a 2 night trip you'll have to be conservative with use if you are using it at night and in the morning, but it will last as long as it's not on high. A necessary evil is you'll probably have to refill the propane tank (unless you have 2) before every trip. If you're new to refilling a propane tank like I was - I went to Uhaul and it was quick and easy, but any gas station with the big propane tank outside should also fill the growler for you. **Design** 5/5 This is my favorite part about the Firecan. It looks good and is highly functional. The ONLY downside to the design is that the nozzle you connect to sticks out from the otherwise perfectly cube / rectangular sides, which could make it more difficult to pack. For me it's not a big deal. Honestly the packability is what makes this thing so great because it's really pretty small even with the growler. You could say it should come with a starter but I personally prefer that it doesn't, since that's just one more thing that could break - and I want this thing to last a long time. Also, I saw another review that mentioned you wouldn't be able to fit the hose into the Firecan if you added diffuser rocks. This is wrong, there's a perfect amount of space for lava rocks (1-3" style) and the connector hose. Obviously, just don't fill it to the top with rocks, I found it works great with just enough rocks to cover all the steel propane outlet holes.

I’m not one to toot horns or sit and be a keyboard warrior but I am one to give credit where it’s due and this little fire cans nothing shy of all of the praise. I despise having to work in the cold so I haven’t quite got the chance to sit around it and enjoy it but it’s quite the fire when you can’t feel your fingers to grab your tools. Well worth every penny and very fuel efficient after the initial purchase. I take it around absolutely everywhere with me because it never hurts to have a little extra heat

This is the perfect tiny fire pit to throw in the back of the car for camping. It takes up so little room but has an adjustable flame that puts off a lot of heat. The legs fold down, and the propane hose fits inside it. We added one set of moonrocks, which still leaves room for the propane hose to tuck inside when not in use. Nice.
