To avoid balancing on one leg when getting into a bathtub shower
This was purchased post-surgery for a family member with some weakness in one leg making it more difficult to lift his leg over the side of the bathtub. I chose the tub transfer bench by Vive based on the strength of the reviews, the additional bracing on the legs (unlike some others) and the design, which included good drainage and a reversible seat back. It arrived with all parts and no damage, and was relatively easy to put together. Assembly was not completely intuitive, but the directions were adequate and I had no real problems. A caveat: Make sure that bench will fit your space. The legs extend farther than the seat, which can affect where you place it if the toilet or a cabinet is very close to the tub. There must be enough room for the chair legs outside of the tub (remember that tub sides slope and the inside legs may need to be placed several inches from the side) and the bather must have room to swing their legs over the edge of the tub. All measurements are provided in the product description, so read this carefully. This bench has worked well for a 6', 200 lb. adult. It does not collect water on the seat, but I put a small towel or wash cloth on the seat for extra comfort. If the cloth extends outside of the bathtub, though, it will drip onto the floor. I installed an additional, thin shower curtain liner, which can be tucked under the bather's leg or tucked between sections of the chair, to minimize leaks onto the floor. An old towel on the floor takes care of the drips. A hand-held shower head is almost a necessity if someone is cannot stand to shower, but make sure that the hose is long enough and that the shower head will be within reach when seated (possibly requiring a lower attachment on the wall). I don't find this bench to be excessively difficult to move, except that we currently have a cramped bathroom that limits movement. The suction cups on the inner legs are really strong and sometimes it's a little tricky to break the suction to move the bench. If this is a real problem, place a mat or washcloth underneath so that they don't seal, but remember that this will undermine their purpose and the safety feature. This was not the cheapest transfer bench on the market, but had some of the highest ratings and reviews. We decided to invest in higher quality, and hope to use this bench in the future as we age, either as a transfer bench or as a shower bench in a large walk-in shower. After a week of use, we are very satisfied.

A Very Smart Purchase!!
This Tub Transfer Bench is great! It was so simple to assemble...most of it was done before it arrived. It is incredibly sturdy. The first time I used it I felt very secure when I sat on it, and I had no trouble moving my legs into our shower stall. It was the perfect width...around 30 inches...to fit in our space. We have an extremely small bathroom...8 ft by 5 ft. This bench still fits nicely in our small space. I am using it because I have a broken bone in my foot, but my husband will be using it for his upcoming knee surgery. This bench was a very wise investment!!

is a great product to have if you have mobility issues
Hi ,This Tub Transfer Bench by Vive Health, is a great product to have if you have mobility issues, standing up for to long or can't stand up very good, but have assistance, the tub bench sits outside of your shower or tub and also sits in your shower and or tub at the same time, so all you have to do is slowly with assistance move from one side of the bench chair for a shower and when done move over a little on the bench , so when you take a shower ,your in the shower, when you want to leave the shower ,all you do is move slowly over a bit on the other side of the bench that's outside of the shower, and with assistance you get help to dry off and get up and out! The idea of having a bench that sits half in your shower and half outside of your shower is great, because it can be very hard for millions of people with mobility or other handicap issues, it can be scary trying to hold on to rails while trying to stand up,with this TubTransfer Bench By Vive Health , you don't have too try and stand up in the tub or Shower you can sit the Whole time your Bathing, you can hold on to one side of the bench , the Bench is ajustable in height,TAll or short, it's comfortable, my love one is very Tall and loves this much better than the old type chair that's not ajustable! PLease you should be safe and always have help/ Assistance ok , thanks,Be safe! K.Red

Came fast,. I have a broken ankle so I wasnt looking to spend a lot of money on a shower chair I wouldn't be using long term. I bought the cheapest one that would meet my needs and had the most stars. It was fast and easy to put together and works great. I would highly recommend this. Its nice and sturdy, I feel safe woth it and living alone with a broken ankle you suddenly become very concerned with feeling safe.

This was so my wife could better tip her head back while the nurse washes and ...
I have just finished the modifications I needed. I lowered the back rest by one inch by cutting off the tube end and replacing the backrest. This was so my wife could better tip her head back while the nurse washes and rinses her hair. Easy fix with a tubing cutter. Next I took off the out board bench and cut a seven inch slot so as to make one 1 inch wide. I took the cut part and cut it to 3/8th thick and epoxied it in the cut hole to make a smooth horizontal surface. Next I filled the ends of the slot with glued in scrap pieces and then dressed up all seams with tub sealant from Lock-Tite. This allows my shower curtain to go through the slot to prevent water splash on bathroom floor. The curtain was made with a flap for this purpose. I think the bench is well made and I have no complaints. Fast shipping. Thanks.

Works well and a great value
Mom came to visit and she said before the tub is getting harder. I can't afford a bathroom remodel right now but this worked and she mentioned she liked it multiple times.

Well made, but quite large. Will not work in smaller area
We bought this bench after knee surgery requiring a straight leg for many weeks. It was suggested by a physical therapist. It is sturdy and easily assembled however, no one ever used it since it was so large, it was impossible for anyone to swing that straight legWithout hitting the wall or the sink cabinet. it is going to my sister.

Perfect For At Home Showers
While awaiting knee replacement surgery, purchased this item to keep showers safe for my husband. Assembles easily, sturdy, and fits great in our apartment shower. Worth every penny as he'll need to use it for awhile post surgery also.
