NIV Study Bible 1985 Tribute to Edwin Palmer bonded leather - Red Letter Edition

I absolutely LOVE this NIV Study Bible in Large Print. I love the red letter edition. It arrived within a week. I am confused as to why I did not get indexed pages... but that sure isn't a deal-breaker. This Bible is SO FULL of exciting stuff that I did not put it down for hours after I opened it! There is the 200 page Concordance, the numerous beautiful color maps, and dozens and dozens of color charts/graphs showing all kinds of information that you could ever possibly want to know (i.e. all the Parables of Jesus and which authors wrote about which ones or all the Miracles of Jesus and which of the Gospels to find those, etc). The layout of the text is as follows: scripture on the upper half of the page (in the standard double column format) with the study notes on the lower half. The bonded leather cover is nice, and I do not find the thin pages to be a problem as others have suggested since I am not used to having a previous Bible with heavier weight paper. The size of the Bible is not too huge for me either as was also suggested by some... It is 10.75"x7.5"x2" and weighs over 5 pounds and I do actually take it to Bible study with me. The only problem (and it would never keep me from purchasing this Bible...) is the lack of Bible covers available in size xxl to go with this. I only found about 5 to choose from; none of which were the least bit feminine. I went with the Wordkeeper as it is a perfect fit (no swimming around). All in all though.... VERY pleased with this purchase!!!

This replaces an old NIV study Bible I had for years. Compared to the old one, this one has quite a bit more information in the footnotes, as well as more (and more detailed) maps and illustrations. If you like the NIV translations, I think this would be a great study Bible to have. I also like the leather bonded cover (old one was hardcover) as it seems to lie open to my chosen page better. There isn't a lot of room in the margins for notes, but I don't do that much, so that part doesn't bother me. Just be prepared that it is BIG. It is about an inch wider and 2 inches taller than my old Bible, and also thicker (with more pages). Part of this is because the print is bigger, part is because there is just more information in it. I got the large print version, I would imagine the Jumbo would be even bigger.

I was Called to be a Teacher of the Bible and Gospels many years ago as I am 65. After 15 years of teaching in our local church, and 12 years directing our Prison Ministry Program; I am truly astounded with your fusion of the NIV Life Application Bible and current archeology. I have a very solid foundation in archeology and regional anthropology of the Levant during an extensive period of time prior to the Roman occupation through Josephus at Masada. The NIV Study Bible illustrations are in exquisite color with photos from ongoing research site. The use of the "Roman Forum" in the "Book of Romans" where Paul physically stood and spoke. The NIV Study Bible collection of maps is unparalleled with color graphics providing nation's in their Biblical names highlighted, and combined with overlays of commentary. I have already ordered several NIV Study Bibles, with one specially for my Son. When it arrived, my Step-Grandson in his late-20's flipped through it telling his Dad..."that he (Dad) was not getting it back, this is the first Bible he had ever found interesting and fun to read". I was floored and have ordered and send our three more. I am reading it each evening to a another Vet who is dying and slowly coming to know Christ over the phone two states away - we served 3 years together on a ship. We read together with his copy in hand, and his questions are answered by the commentary or by me. Thank you Zondervan and your research staff who prepared this incredible edition. Yes it is larger than my old one. Yes the print is larger--but not huge. Beautiful cover and pages are really nice. Tons of extra information. I've never had a Study Bible so am learning how to use. Was difficult to find a Bible Cover to fit it..needed it to carry bible, pens etc. Only one issue--it is heavy for a Senior to tote--hence the need for a Cover with handles. Having noted all that I still totally recommend this bible---

Took f o r e v e r to arrive... literally, over a MONTH. Apparently the USPS is "partnering" with a new Pitney-Bowes company, which this shipper decided to use... Bad decision, in my opinion... HOWEVER, the Bible is FANTASTIC... Not super-large print but very readable and many study notes/references to other books/verses that explain and parallel the book and verse being read. I'm really happy with this purchase. One "con" is that the pages are "EXTREMELY" thin... very 'tearable'.

I have been wanting a new Bible for a long time. But with so many choices, I just couldn't decide. I finally made a choice yesterday and I received the Bible today......the shipping was super fast. I am excited to start using this new Bible! I hope it is as wonderful as I am anticipating it to be. Pros of the Zondervan Large Print Study Bible: Study Bible features with text notes, cross referencing, etc. I haven't had this before so am hoping it is helpful. Lots of maps, photos, charts in beautiful color and with descriptive captions. New Testament - Jesus' words in red. Large Print - 10 point font Attractive with flexible cover Cons of the Zondervan Large Print Bible: Quite large - 10.5" x 7" x 2.5" Quite heavy - 5 lb Thin, sticky pages - Many, many of the pages stick together. I found that fanning them helped loosen many of them but I am still having to spend effort separating some of the pages.

Let me just give it to you straight.... Don't get this BIBLE... ..if you want a small bible. Don't get this bible ..if you are concern about the quality of the "leather". If you get this bible in hard back, maybe it would hold up more better. ..if thumb indexed is important to you. ..if you want more than one bookmark ribbons ..if you are in the market for a bible to take to church. (TOO HEAVY FOR YOU TO CARRY) ..if you want large margins in your study bible. However, the NIV Study Bible has a get amount of positive factors. Are you looking for a study bible..... ..that have old and new testaments in NIV format? ..that weighs close to 5lbs.? ..that have Christ words in Red? ..that delivers 400 colorful- flamboyant maps, charts, illustrations, and photographs? (ALL IN COLOR) ..that offers you 20,000 study notes? ..that have a comprehensive book introductions and outlines. ..that gives articles/sidebars with depth topical information. As you can see, I gave this product a 4 out of 5.In the past when I ordered a large printed bible, the front was around 10; however, the front for this bible seemed to be around an 7. Since the front size was smaller than I was used to, I had to give it a 4 out of 5 ratting. If you believe you the good out weighs the bad, then this is the ideal bible to read. However, if the bad is just too much, please don't waste your money on this bible. ..

This Bible was perfect. The print was readable it was exactly what description described and it came on time. I’m enjoying it!
