And that is what it is, as a user of physical books I appreciate the need to carry one less book now. It was never meant to be 250 new monsters. However, this is more than just a compilation, it is a rebalancing and a tweaking of many monsters and races. A lot of high CR monsters are now punching at their intended weight, spellcasters have been streamlined and 30 fantastical player races are compiled and tweaked from all the other books. Not only are 250 monsters now compiled in one book but they're also reordered to be truly alphabetical instead of grouped and then sorted. Additionally, the book is a host of amazing new art, seriously the art is getting nicer with every new book that is released. If you instead want a book of new monsters then no, this book is not for you. If you want a streamlined compilation, rebalanced, reworked single book of everything then yes, this book is for you. Fairly decent, but reuses many other expanded universe monsters
many monsters from volos and similar are republished in this one tome. was a little dissapointed that there wasnt more original content.

I love this book.
This book adds several new options for player character races like Aasimar, Changeling, Duergar, Eladrin etc. and hundreds of monsters for crafting encounters for your party. Even if you don't actively play D&D, this book is worth a read if you enjoy learning about fantasy creatures. Some of which are truly messed up.

Wholly reccommend for DnD players and lore enthusiasts
Super informative species info in the back not to mention the species options (which are amazing in variation and use) but they may need some adapting to the 2024 PHB rules which shouldn't take too long

Lots of extras and a nice slice of lore.
Great support to 5E and has some good pieces of lore stashed between the pages. Can't complain with the extra spells and classes that's involved either

An amazing book that allows players to use fantastic creatures as the chosen race, changelings, new elf types, furries (lol). It makes the game much more magical and interesting, as the characters try to think as these magical creatures would think like, creating even more immersion. The monsters are also great, creating a lot of variety.
