Perfect for flying!
This is exactly what I was looking for to hold my device while watching a movie on the plane. The biggest problem with it, in fact the only problem, is when the person next to you has to get up they bump it and it falls down from the seatback trays

Airline pilot here, you are better off with duct tape and velcro!
I'm an airline pilot, and I bought this for when my company has me deadhead, like I am right now. Let me give you a little insight into why you should not buy this product, and why you should return it if you have purchased it. The design is flimsier than a prize from a Cracker Jack box. I had a half of a grande latte in it and when I just tried to put my iPhone in the holder on the back, the entire assembly came off the tray table and soaked my uniform pants, my seat, my shoes, and my flight bag. The design lacks any capability to stay on a tray table and it is so poor that if you want to have a drink in the holder and watch your iPhone, the screen will be almost completely blocked. If you have an iPad or a tablet, be prepared for up to half of your screen to be blocked by a grande from Starbucks. The attachment for your phone or iPad is so atrociously designed that when you try to anchor your phone or tablet into the device, as it is described on the pamphlet they send you, it will pull back so hard on the device that it will then launch it free from the base and into your drink, or if you have no drink, right into your lap or onto the airplane floor. I'm outraged at how flimsy this product is as well. There is no permanent fixture that holds your drink in place. Instead you get two pieces of plastic that spin around each other at a joint, and you have to put these little tiny 3mm size knobs into little tiny holes in order to attach the drink holder to the base. Problem is though that is takes very little pressure to cause your hot drink to be in your lap and possibly leaving you embarrassed with a stain in your lap. Thank you CER Tech Corp for leaving me in this predicament. Wish one of your team members were here now so I could pour the rest of my hot beverage all over your lap. RETURNING!!! The biggest outrage of all is that they sell this garbage for almost $30. It's not worth 50 cents.

Good purchase but not great
Used on 4 flights, โฅ 2hrs ea. Found it to be more wobbly than expected despite being used on a new aircraft seat, and the angle adjuster and locking device felt cheap but it held airline drink cups and small water bottles just fine. However, it doesn't work with larger bottles. MFR quality is good but the cotton carry bag is a tight fit, and clip-on basket that cradles bottles also has loose fit. Works well for holding iPad or phone so it you're a pre-downloaded movie watcher on flights you'll like it more than the in flight laptop business worker like me.

The Airhook stops me from slumping over to read my devices in flight...
Feb 24 update: the air hook did not work on one flight on American Eagle Canadair/ Bombardier Regional jet 700 - even though it did on an earlier flight on the same aircraft. It must be because the tray table didn't fit flush enough against the seat back ... removing one star from my earlier review ... @@@. I travel a lot - both long and short haul. I would always try to prop up my iPad on the tray tables with something (a sweater, a book...) so I didn't have to scrunch over the whole flight while reading or watching a movie. So when I read about the Airhook in November, I immediately ordered it. Like another reviewer, I was surprised there were no reviews on Amazon at the time, and even now there are few... So - my first ever Amazon review. The Airhook is terrific. I use it to hold either my mini iPad or my large iPhone - at just about eye level. And I can sit back fully in my seat, with the seat supporting my head. Sooooo much more comfortable. And I can cross my legs if I choose to do so. My husband had to loosen up the 'joints' a bit - they were so tight on arrival that I thought a part was missing. The bungee thing works okay - my devices have not fallen unless someone bumps it (a flight attendant did yesterday). I haven't tried the cup holder yet. It looks secure but I don't think I'd trust hot coffee. And I can only get the cup holder's separate four-pronged attachment to fit on securely about 50 percent of the time. I think I must just need to practice... I note one reviewer said he couldn't fit it on one or two tray tables. On my Airhook's 'maiden voyage' I thought that was the case, but it was just my lack of familiarity in attaching the Airhook. It's worked on two different airlines, both US domestic flights, so far. I used to live in Asia, where many airlines have had great seat back entertainment systems, even in economy class, for years. I am happy I can approximate that experience here now with the Airhook and a downloaded Netflix movie or two.

Was really hoping for a great travel accessory, but nope :-(
I was really hoping that I would like this, but I just can't say that I do. I tried it recently on two different airlines (Southwest and American) and it just plain didn't work. I followed the instructions precisely but given how the trays are aligned on these two airlines, the locking mechanism was at a slight angle and it wouldn't provide the resistance needed to hold a tight grip so it just kept slipping out. Not to mention, you can just forget about using this at all if someone in front of you reclines their seat. I give it an extra star (bringing the total to 2) for the fact that it did work briefly until it lost its grip and did seem to hold the beverage cup pretty well. It seems like if you were to coat the "prongs" into some kind of non-skid material it might work better, which I might do in the future to try and salvage mine, but if you're looking for a gadget for your own travels, I'd explore elsewhere.
