Do these help with weight balancing like a traditional trim tab?

Absolutely. I have them. Get them. My boat died not rock side to side like it used to and porpoising is nearly eliminated.

With these on, will I still be able to trim up some and raise the bow if need be? In rough or following seas.

Yes the boat will still respond to stern leg trim adjustments. When on the plane the tabs will be fully or partially retracted so minor trim adjustments will make a difference. Off the plane may need slightly increased throttle in addition to trim. I have not had a problem with operating with a bow rider in moderately rough following seas. However I operate on a lake so my definition of rough could be milder than yours.

I have a carolina skiff j16 with a 25 hp mercury 2 stroke. which one do i need?
