Odds Are These Will Be Defective - Beware!
I ordered a handful of these adapters, only to find that one (1) out of the entire batch was functional. I have used many other adapters without any problems, but these seem to have a design flaw or just horrible build quality.

Completely pointless - they use non-standard (wrong) 9-way pin-out. This is only stated if you find the manual on the manufacturer web-site here: http://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/media/sets/DB92422_manual/DB92422_Manual.pdf They use pins 1-5 of the 9-way D, whereas most common RS422 pin-out conventions use pins 1,2,3,7,8.
