CLEP® Principles of Macroeconomics Book + Online (CLEP Test Preparation): 9780738610887: Economics Books @ desertcart.com Review: Passed!!! - I passed the CLEP exam and that is all that matters. I used this book with the practice test and other online resources to prepare for 3 weeks. I have read the other negative reviews of this book. CLEP and REA are assuming that you already have knowledge on this topic. I didn't have any knowledge of this subject before deciding to take the CLEP exam. Some of the acronyms in the books are not spelled out and I believe that this is where previous knowledge is assumed by the author. That is why I would like to advise that if you have no knowledge in any of the CLEP exams and you are going to use the REA books please be prepared to do the additional leg work to pass, if not take a college course for 3 months which cost 3 - 5 times more. Review: Passed! (with a 56) - The book covers everything you need to know pretty much. It's a concise book (there's no B.S.), so if you are unsure of concepts just look it up online like I did. A lot of the stuff was foreign to me, but I'm glad the book outlined what exactly I needed to learn. The best part about the book hands down is the practice tests you can take on the REA website. I found those tests to be very similar to the actual CLEP exam.

Good and bad
Good: has 2 practice tests reviews information online content is always a plus includes diagnostic exam bad: practice tests dont explain each answer wont be sure until the test if the review info is helpful unless you recently took a similar course and you want to take this class for credit, get another book to help study and use this for the test material (practice tests/online content).

Good book and good seller
These books are the best CLEP study tools you can get in book form! I do recommend watching some Khan Academy videos to go along with it, to flesh out some concepts, but that may just be my learning style. This seller told me there were no signs of use on the book and it arrived just as I was expecting. I'll definitely check to see if he's selling my next study book!

Great practice tests, poor explanations to answers, and mediocre explanation of core concepts.
I scored above the minimum requirement of 50/80, with a 67/80. However, I credit the practice tests, re-reading them over and over and over again which helped me most. I began to memorize the correlations between two phenomenon - whether one will cause the other to increase/decrease, ect. The questions were a bit more difficult than the actual Clep test. Which is not a bad thing. Though, the explanations to the answers essentially stated, "it is (C) because (C)" (it is because it is) The convoluted explanations, variety of acronyms (lacking any explanation of their meaning), limited analysis of relationships among phenomenon, no bulletpoint/concise summaries of important/core relationships and information, ect. I took the diagnostic test 3-4 months after I took it the first time. I scored below 40 each time. Zero improvement. Though, obviously I did well on the test. Additionally, I did well enough on both practice tests (56 and 63). Why is the diagnostic test like this? I feel as though it is designed to convince the test takers to feel as if this REA book has helped increase their scores exponentially (so they will buy another REA book). Though not impressed, and would buy another study book to learn content if I did it over again, I did pass. Some of the info I have had some exposure to as well; I was finishing my last semester of my political science degree alongside studying for this test. So....I suggest buying it for the great test questions if you have the money to spare after purchasing a better study material.

This was a great resource!
I used this book to study for the Principles of Macroeconomics CLEP test. With this book and the help of Accelerate University, I was able to pass my test in as little as 12 days! The practice tests give an accurate representation about how the CLEP test actually looks like! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to pass the Principles of Economics CLEP test!

Waste of money!
This book is horrible! After loving the CLEP Financial Accounting Book from REA, I thought this one would be good, too. It's not. It's only a very, very light review of the topic, and even then, it is horribly written and not organized at all. It also doesn't tell you what acronyms stand for (i.e. LRAS is Long-Run Aggregate Supply); nope, just started using the acronyms. The only way this book would be use is if you took econ last year in high school and want to test out of it as a college freshman. That's about it. For someone who hasn't take econ in over 10 years, get Macroeconomics Demystified. I studied it in just three days and passed! Plus, it's half the price of this book.

Too basic, a bit quirky
It's a bit too basic. It's also really only about 68 pages of actual economics information... it has a worthless 10 pages of intro called "About the Exam" that tells you things like "get a good night's sleep". So, that part was pointless. The practice tests take up 85 pages, so that is the bulk of the book. The author shows many (not all) of the graphs "backwards" from what you conventionally see - i.e., he has flipped the X and Y axis. It is unclear why he has done this, and it is a bit annoying for anyone who is used to looking up an X-value to determine the value you would solve for on Y-axis. The author also chooses to selectively insert some of his own (irrelevant) beliefs into the book, which are more economic opinion instead of economic fact, and often has statements like "A good economist should do all of these" to fluff up short sections. Economics Demystified seems like a much more robust book for learning.
