This machine is well made and has features and hoop sizes equal to much pricier machines. Because it is a dedicated embroidery machine it excels at embroidery. Like any machine, it has it's own quirks but so do the pricier machines. The quirks are easy to live with and if it is more reliable that our previous pricier machine, it will be a win-win situation!

I purchased this 3 months ago. The motor seized and bushings gone. Because I purchased from USA and live in Canada. No warranty I find out. Buyer Beware

I love this machine. I have only been using it for about 2 weeks but love it already. Makes a beautiful stitch right out of the box. Easy to thread. The needle threader is a bit hard to get used to. The instructions in the book do not show enough detail, however, it is something that you can figure out with repetition and by paying attention. The needle threader is not like the one on my Janome Memory Craft 6500 - but it does work well. The 500E comes with 4 hoops, which is REALLY nice. Didnt have to buy those separately. The pre-loaded patterns seem to be nice and stitch out well, although I do not generally use them. My previous machine was not a Janome so I have separate software that I use to convert my purchased patterns. The preloaded fonts are just OK. But again, I have a large library of my own that I generally use. The thing that I love the most that is different from my old machine is that this 500E cuts the thread between words or patterns and there are no jump stitches to deal with.

Machine is well made; it runs fast and quiet. I agree with some of the reviews if you need to learn CNC embroidery this may not be for you. Start with something less expensive but I would recommend Janome. This purchase to replace my wife's MC300E so she was up and running in just a few minutes. So far, no problems at all and the extras are a big plus. Don't forget a CF card readier if you have older designs you want to use with this machine. You will need to transfer them to a thumb drive or use CF reader attached to the machine.

Love my machine I had 2 brother embroidery machine when I tell the Janome is better faster on doing my work so worth buying
