For a women's size 9 what's the best size to go with S or M?

Small I have that size shoes and my foot is a little wide works great !

I ordered a mcdavid ankle brace. no where does it say it's not returnable. why?

I returned mine within the window of time allowed without any issues.

Are these good for softball?

yes, I have found the best ones so far to use. Other brands don't last as long. These are for my son who plays basketball. Running jumping, etc. they should be good for softball as well.

I am female, size 6 shoe, but wide foot and 10" circumference ankle. What size brace do I need?

I have wide feet as well, but if you follow the chart according to your shoe size it should work out well. I will say depending on the cut of the shoe it can pose difficult when attempting to insert your foot with the ankle braces. So a wider cut shoe is suggested.
