Reliable, it does the job
This was not the first pump I bought, I needed to increase the city water pressure so that I could use more than one sprinkler at a time to water my large backyard. I did not need a pump to drain anything or to bring water up from a well of creek. I just wanted to increase the pressure directly from the outdoor spigot. When I saw the prices of these things I first opted for a plastic one which had good reviews and cost around $50. After all this was not an emergency and there are plenty of other things to spend one's money on then a booster pump. Well, the first one was difficult to install, and the instructions suggested an electrician which the description on Amazon did not mention. I returned it and bought a Fluent Power for around $100. It was highly rated, perhaps the highest in its price range. It worked fine for one day and then killed my water pressure altogether. I returned it and decided to bite the bullet and by the Wayne pump based on research, videos. I have had it only for a week and cannot speak to durability but I can say this. It increased my water pressure dramatically so that I can no run 2 impact sprinklers at the same time and get good coverage. It is quiet. Much quieter than the Fluent Power. It was extremely easy to set up. Directions were clear and accurate. Priming was a breeze, just add water and away you go. While it is not exactly light, it is not so heavy that you cannot move it around. I have used it every day without a hitch. And it does not leak at the inlet and outlet opening which the Fluent Power did.I gave it four stars instead of five because I think a longer power cord would be useful, but to be honest, its power cord is as longer or longer than most of these pumps. And the other reason was the price $235. I realize there are pumps out there that cost 3 times as much. Bob Villa recommends such pumps. But still for me $235 seemed high. But so far, probably worth it. If at the end of the summer, its is now July, it is still going like it is now, I will raise it to five stars.

Bent frame but I fixed it
I had to get a replacement as the frame was bent. The replacement had a bent frame also which I managed to straighten so both legs sat on the ground evenly. I just stepped on the side that was up and pulled on the handle. It also had a loose bolt washer and nut in the box. I put that back in the frame before straightening the frame. It works great but they need better quality controll. My old one lasted for over 25 years. Hopefully this one lasts as long. Like I said, I love it but the company needs to do better

Legit review of a really good sprinkler pump
UPDATE: 4/20/2025. Going on 6 years and this pump continues to amaze me. Still pushing 70 psi and showing no signs of letting up.UPDATE: 7/16/23: It just keeps going and going! 4 years in and this pump continues to impress. Itโs getting 68psi at the end of a 75โ hose, but you wouldnโt know thatโs down some from 2020 from seeing how much water it throws from the sprinkler. Still a great purchase!UPDATE 6/8/20: Still a 5 Star rating after 11 months! Iโm now using it mostly to draw well water rather than lake water for irrigation.I dropped 22โ of 3/4โ pvc into a 24โ deep well, have the pump positioned next to the well, and Iโm getting 70 lbs of pressure at the outflow connection, and 75 lbs at the end of 50โ of hose. Not fire hose strength, but plenty to run a variety of sprinklers AND keep my irrigation water bill at $0! Still very happy after almost a year.Original review:Got the Wayne PLS100 to pump lake water to irrigate our Bermuda and zoysia grasses. Researched way too much, and thankfully decided on the Wayne over several cheaper off-brand models. Not saying the cheaper ones are bad, but the Wayne is freakin awesome!Used a 1โ brass foot valve (TC2503LF) on the intake hose (6โ length of 1โ reinforced clear hose from Home Depot) and I was off to the races. Primed the pump per the manual, plugged it in, flipped the switch and after about 25 seconds the oscillating sprinkler at the end of the hose was throwing a 50โ wide shower of lake water 75โ away, 10โ above the intake. And the spray spread was almost what the house bib produced.I then turned it off, added another 75โ hose, and ran it to the front yard. Turned it back on and almost immediately it was throwing about the same amount of spray as the back yard, but at 22โ above and 150โ from the intake. And did I mention itโs relatively quiet? Outside it is. Now if it was located close to a living area, youโd be wise to fashion an insulated, ventilated box for it.Am I impressed? Yup.So I decided to push my luck, and I put a splitter at the 75โ point and added a 25โ hose to each with the same oscillating sprinklers at each end. At that point, you could see some degradation of water force, but still adequate for watering. To my eye, there was about 20% less pressure.I moved the splitter, hoses and sprinklers to the front yard (150โ from pump to splitter with a 22โ rise above the lake). Again, you could see less spray from the sprinklers. With both sprinklers in-line, the total coverage was approx 50โx25โ. While not as good as when they were on a single 75โ hose, the 1200 sq ft coverage is adequate.Update: I swapped out the 1โ intake hose for a 30โ, 3/4โ hose to get the pump closer to the power source. Thereโs no discernible loss of water pressure at the 150โ point, and I know this because I borrowed a psi gauge to check. Itโs 78 psi straight from the pumpโs outlet, 76 psi at the 75โ point, and 63 psi at 150โ (22โ above intake). All in all, the Wayne PLS100 is a VERY impressive irrigation pump that (assuming I get years of use) ought to pay for itself by significantly lowering my water bills during the summer watering months in SC! Well worth the money.

Excellent portable 1HP water pump.
This is an excellent 1Hp pump that works very well, my third one. The first one I had for three years until I ran it a couple months ago when we had a heat dome of 100 degrees over our area. Normal operating temperature of the pump is hot enough to burn my hand when it has been running for 20 minutes and got up to full temperature. It has a built-in fan that keeps it cool enough to operate when the outdoor ambient temperature is high, but at 100 degrees the thermal trip kept popping and I should have turned it off, but did not. It was my fault. I bought an identical replacement because I liked it so much but within a few days the replacement sprang a leak that got worse as I watched till it got the motor wet and quit. The motor was OK when I tried it later so I returned it for a full refund, I now have two of these pumps working very well for me.

Very good performance
I bought this pump with the intention to empty all the accumulated rain water in my used to be empty swimming pool. This season, about a thousand gallons of water have been in the bottom of the pool. I have to empty the water before mosquitoes start laying eggs in the water.Reading the many reviews of this pump, I was worried if the pump has enough power to pump water from the bottom to the top of the pool which is about 8-foot deep. Or it would create so much noise that it would disturb all my neighbors. But I decided to give it a try anyway. I can always return the pump if it doesn't perform as advertised. With the pump on the dry part of the pool bottom, I connected a 5/8" garden hose 6ft long to the pump inlet. on the other end of the inlet hose, I connected a water breaker and drop it to the water deepest part. the water breaker served as a filter for the pump.I connected 3 25ft garden hose together to extend it to 75 feet. Connect one end to the pump outlet and the other end, I route it around the house to the front yard. At the outlet connector to the pump, I have to Teflon tape for sealing.Since the pump is far from any electrical socket, I used a 50ft orange color extension cable.I followed the instruction and filled up the primer hole with water then turn the pump switch to on.WOW, the pump was quiet with just the humming noise of an electric motor. It pumped continuously for 2.5 hours and emptied my pool. I don't think the pump can pump any faster with the hose size that I was using. I could see that in the front yard, the water shoot out at least 5 feet away from the 5/8" hose.Overall it performed very well for my need. I hope that it will be the same next year and last many years after.

Pump sucks alright
This pump's product description needs only state two things: 1) that you'd better have an AC outlet RIGHT NEXT TO the "stream" or other water source you're pulling water out of, and 2) that you will NOT be using a generator, extention cord, or anything else but a wall socket (and NOT a CAMPER's wall socket) with this pump. So, imagine working until midnight to plant $800 of and 30 varieties of fruit trees. Imagine no rain in sight for over a week for your freshly planted investment. Now, imagine banging on your neighbor's door and watering-in your trees by HAND until 3am because you had to leave town the next day, and because this pump refused to do what its made for: pump water.I tried using an inverter to power the thing. Nothing. I tried a 1400 watt generator. Nothing. I tried using the outlets in a camper powered by a generator. Nope. So over 3 hours at midnight, I found myself MANUALLY pouring water from 55 GALLON DRUMS into a WHEELBARROW and wheeling THAT over PLOWED DIRT to my $800 worth of trees spaced every 25 feet. I am NOT happy with "city-fied" water pump. If you have any use for it beyond the length of its cord to a wall, don't buy this one. Called Wayne Pump, and after they accidentally hung up on me once, they had two reps confirm that uses like I've described (from a generator or extension cord) are "not what it was designed for."Useless. And don't buy from Amazon unless you want to pay a 15-50% restocking fee ON TOP OF sending this heavy sucker back to them. Piece of junk and rip off.

GREAT PUMP SUCKS WATER FROM POND TO WATER PLANTS
This pump was expensive but it's been a godsend to us as the summer draught has left our plants in rural Florida very thirsty.I tried three other pumps before spending this much but this one has continued to work well so I think it's worth the extra money. We suck water out of our pond to water our plants and yard. I attached a 1" well foot valve to a 10' piece of stiff PVC hose with 1" fittings on both ends and connected it to this pump. I bought all this hardware off Amazon because I was in a big hurry to water a stand of bamboo we had installed.I mounted the foot valve on a piece of wood so I could position it in the pond without it being in the mucky bottom, I have the foot valve about 1-foot below the water surface so I can see it and be sure it's not sucking mud.The pump easily powers three Melnor oscillating lawn sprinklers which are fed by three 100' garden hoses. The output of the pump feeds a 4-way manifold, three outlets power sprinklers and one powers a pressure meter so I can monitor the output pressure. The system has worked reliably for me for over two months, it's nice to have it be reliable.

5 stars...........for now
Only have put this pump into service 3 times so far so this is a preliminary review. We have a pond ( 4,000 gallons ) in our front yard and are experiencing a very dry summer. Instead of using our well to keep the pond filled and to water our numerous flower/plant beds and grass. I wanted to use the spring fed creek in our back yard to bring up water. Only problem is the creek is approximately 700ft. away and downhill. I had a 1 H.P. utility pump so I ran garden hose from the front yard along the side of the property all the way back to the barn where I would house and power the pump but the pump I had would not push the water up that far.I purchased the Wayne PLS100 based on the reviews here and figured I could return if it failed to provide what I needed. Hooked it up and was amazed at the amount and pressure of the water being delivered to the pond and front yard. I have hooked up a foot valve and remote control switch so now when I see the pond needs water I just press a button and water starts to flow.We have also hooked the pump up to a sprinkler and use this to water our yard and beds. Very pleased with the power and performance so far and the pump is very quiet.

and seems to work fine on a regular 15 amp circuit
Bought last summer to power a mobile sprinkler. Attached the 25 foot hose into the lake with a small 2 foot grade and a right angle in the pipe with a foot valve (must use foot valve).Worked well all summer using it with a portable sprinkler. Guys at Home Depot didn't believe a regular 15 amp circuit will be enough to power this pump without maxing it out, but it never did, and seems to work fine on a regular 15 amp circuit.I had the pump under my deck with a rain shield above, and took it out in the fall, as I live in Canada, and didn't want the water to freeze inside the pump during the winter. So far, the pump has worked as advertised. I ran it for hours sometimes, and although it got very hot, it continue to work throughout the summer. So I guess I'll just have to see what happens next summer as far as long-term reliability goes.I would give it five stars, but want to wait till I make sure it runs okay next year.

This is replacement for earlier PLS100 pump, they last 4 to 5 years
Pump lasts 4 to 5 years then the brushes or capacity for start up fails and there are no replacement parts available for Wayne pumps which makes total replacement expensive.
