Springfield Armory 1911 Single Handgun Wooden Box

Took a shot on this box. Other reviews knock the quality, but it's perfect for my needs. It is a perfect fit for my commemorative John Wayne 1911 BB pistol. I had a piece of foam that fit the inside of the box, that I cut out to fit the pistol. As previous reviewers have stated, the included insert isn't very good. My foam looks a lot better. If you need a simple display box this is worth the price. Paid an extra $10 for the shipping, and it arrived in a day. Amazon comes through again!

I like the wooden case - it’s sturdy and the rugged looking appearance takes me back to wooden ammo cases from my Army days. It’s a box I would display in my office. What I cared for the least was the insert to hold the pistol. It seems too shallow; I was expecting my 1911 to fit a little tighter and line up better. Granted mine is a SIG SAUER and this was for a Springfield 1911 A1 Model Box but one can only hope it would have fit any 1911. It was a risk and I took it.

I have a Colt not a Springfield, but I really liked the vintage look of the box. I decided to give it chance and I absolutely love it! I read other reviews that claimed the mold that came with the box was too small. That's definitely not the case for a Commander or the magazine, it fits like a glove. I like to keep my pistol on the nightstand beside my bed when I'm not carrying it and it's perfect. The box is beautiful and I can get to my pistol very quickly if I need to. You get best of both worlds.

This box serves it's purpose but it looks a little cheaply made. I feel like the price didn't match up with the quality.

It looks like logo is engraved in the pictures, it is not , strap holding lid broke when opening it up. Wood joints don't fit and are open. I have seen better orange crates.

This case was not what I expected. The box joints were not tight and there were unfilled holes and valleys where brads and staples were driven in. The box needs to be sanded down, and then the sawdust with glue added could be used to fill the holes, and then it could be refinished. The top cannot be completely sanded because of the markings on it, but the fastener damage is only around the edge, so that shouldn't be a problem.All things considered, the box was not a bad value for the price. I just wish I knew the condition when I ordered it.

Loving this antiqued vintage style box for the .45 1911!!!! Like others have mentioned, I may seal it with a lacquer finish, but I don't think it really needs anything. It's a matter of what you want. Totally subjective. 5 STARS because there is nothing else like it, and when my original box was stolen, I was in need of a Springfield box. This MORE than fit the bill. Love it!!!

Nicely made. My Springfield 1911 A1 fits perfectly in the box. What more can you ask for?
